Ryder Cup is a team competition between the USA and Europe
that takes place every other year. The Davis Cup is a team competition contested between countries from all over the year, and is contested annually. Davis Cup is contested over the course of
the tennis season, while Ryder Cup is contested over one weekend
basically. Ryder Cup exists only in golf, while Davis Cup exists only
in men's pro tennis. The female equivalent of the Davis Cup would
be the Fed Cup.

The Ryder Cup is in golf.
The Davis Cup is a challenge for tennis players from all countries. The US just lost out.
