Immediate withdrawal is encouraged to prevent another Vietnam for the US.

It will take a complete generation for all American presence to leave these countries.

That is twenty to twenty five years.

Even after the uprisings are quelled or beaten into relative submission, American and regional interests will not be served with their complete departure.

Iran has foolishly displayed their intentions and given the Americans the reason or excuse they need to remain in the region.

Had Iran remained quiet about its intention to eliminate Israel, the US may well have left the region, allowing Iran a first strike capability. Iran not only has lost its element of surprise, but they have practically guaranteed that they will be subject to American hostility.

The US has shown (rightly or wrongly) that they do not need UN sanction to act in its own interest. They have also shown the willingness to fight unpopular wars to secure national interests.

So, to answer the question, US forces will withdraw from Iraq and Afghanistan only to redeploy to Iran. Unfortunately for Iran, the US is not interested in occupying that country and will be only ot happy to demonstrate their ability to destroy and economy without taking significant losses.

Unfortunately the USA have created a situation whereby withdrawl would be devastating to those Afghanistani and Iraqi people who collaborated with them.
They are trying to impose their culture or lack thereof on people who have little or no use for their decadent ways.

It's not just the humiliation but the billions of dollars they've spent and will continue to spend. Their participation in this losing action is doing a lot of harm to the American people too.

America today is in no way the America it used to be and it never will be again.

i think they should be pulled. but quite frankly we are repeating history here. all the same BS politics are happening again that happened in the Vietnam War. even all the protesters (aka the hippies) are coming out of the wood work, not realizing that those men and women deserve every ounce of respect we can give them. my personal opinion is it's time to pull out. at this point iraq is having it's own revolutionary or civil war (what ever way you want to see it) and no one helped us in our civil war why should we help them (but yay france for helping during our revoution...where are you now?)

apologies for not answering about the afganistan portion. the troops there are great, but they are by far overshadowed by iraq. only because we've gotten sadam and have yet to get osama.
