It depends on the kind of union you are wanting in and where you live. Call the local halls if there is one and ask if they are taking on new members. Depending on the demand they may not. Also try getting on with a company that is union, if you work out then they will sponser you in.

Union isn't all it is cracked up to be and some have bad wraps while others are good with good benefits but you don't have to be union to have a good job. I was never union and when I worked before we had kids I made better money then my husband who has been in a union for many years. Allot depends on the trade.

Get into the union doesn't automatically give you a job. You also have to pay union dues whether or not you end up getting a job. If you already have a job in the trade that is unionized, it's harder for you to get fired. But , a lot of times unions drive the industry down like it happened in American auto industry.

Unions protect employees (for a fee called dues). They do not give you good jobs. I have never worked for a union job and yet have always been happy. You get out of a job what you put into it not what your union fights for.
