Not if you take them off, then it's just unfair.

I'd buy the bodyshapers, anytime, if the alternative was having to wear too-small underwear!
Personally, I'd wear the bodyshapers, anyway. They can be quite comfortable, and aren't necessarily big knickers any more. The ones I recently bought were a nice size; you can even get them in thongs.
As well as the pulling in of the belly, knowing that you've got them on boosts confidence, which is the main thing for making you look good!

There is no comparing shapewear and wearing clothing too small. Shapewear fits properly, so while it holds you in making you look thinner, you get a smooth line above and below it. Wearing too tight clothing can cut off circulation, not to mention the unsightly bulges that pop out in every direction above and below the seams. And there is always the risk of bulging or splitting seams, and all that does is make you look heavier.
NEVER buy too tight clothing, it only adds pounds, looks sloppy, and let's everyone else see every bulge, cellulite dimple, and jiggle of fat. It's such a bad idea.

When you do the briefs too small you tend to get rolls around the top and the body shaping does not.
Yes I think they are worth it - besides if you take care they last a lot longer than the briefs

I wore Spanx underwear from Debenhams when I needed to wear a slinky dress to an evening wedding and it did work and made me feel more confident about flaunting my 30 something old carcass.

I don't think women should use bodyshapers. God made you the way you are for a reason. You should be proud of who you are. Don't try to mask it.

Personally i have never bothered with them.
They suppose to be designed for ladies with pot shaped bellys or out-of-control love handles, if you have this, then its worth considering one.
Maybe check out your local lingerie store, and try one on to see if it gives off the effect your looking for.

those long lycra style shorts with a front panel and a lift thing around the bum are great not very sexy but you feel good and all those bulges are smoothed out.
