You should be fine, I used taxi's all the time before I could drive, half the time I was with my little brother too. If it'll make you feel better before you plan on leaving the hotel call down to the front desk and ask them to order a taxi for you to pick you and your daughter up. And all the theme parks always have a taxi parked out front, especially during closing hours.
The taxi company I always used was either Checker Cab (407)699-9999 or Yellow Cab (407)422-2222. Mainly because of the easy numbers but I never once had a problem with them. I even lost a few things and had no problem getting it back.
Good Luck, and enjoy your trip!

Your best bet would be to go to guest relations (concierge) at Pop Century,- which, by the way, is a fun resort- and ask them to acquire transportation services. They will then have the information (whom was called, time of transport, etc) on the off chance that something should happen. Disney usually uses Mears Transportation services, which is quite reputable.

I don't know the costs, but taxis anywhere are not cheap. I was at Disney World last week and we took a taxi from the Grand Floridian (we were exploring how the other half lives, lol) to Downtown Disney. It was under $20.00, but that was still Disney Property, and not very far.

Enjoy your stay.

My boyfriend and I used a taxi in August to get to Cirque du Soleil: La Nouba at Downtown Disney from Disney's Polynesian Resort. We had no problem, but, of course, my boyfriend was there, rather than a child. The driver was very friendly. He had an accent, I think he was Jamaican. We only took a taxi because we were running really late. It took under 15 minutes to get there, but it cost us over $25.00! It would cost a lot more to get to Sea World, Universal Studios, Islands of Adventure, etc. Check out a local shuttle service, like Mears. It will probably be cheaper and they'll take you to any of the Orlando area theme parks. It would be quite convenient, and you wouldnt have to worry about being safe in a taxi- you'll be in a shuttle bus with other families going to the theme parks.

Checker and Yellow are both owned by the same company, Mears destination service.
the best thing to do I personally think is to contact mears directly through their website.

Taxis get very expensive, especially when you're staying on disney property and going to Universal, I can tell you that you will be off Exit 65 on I-4 and seaworld is exit 72 (7miles highway) and universal is off exit 75 (ten miles) those are highway miles, to get to the highway you will spend at least a mile from pop to I-4 and three miles from highway to Sea world, and one mile from highway to Univ.

Also bear in mind a taxi makes money waiting as well as by distance, long driveways and things add up quickly down here in tourist land.

My suggestion is this, go to mears website and call them for prices using the lincoln towncars! The prices are cheaper because they base their charges on distances using a zone system. so a ten dollar trip in a cab might be 5 in a towncar. not to mention they are the largest transport company down here and very safe.
They are dispatched using the same taxi network and I would suggest scheduling your trips but they are also pretty quick to pick up.

Anyway, Hope this helped, I use them all the time for weekends and other occasions when I don't have my car. They are very safe reliable and accept debit and credit cards so you don't have to keep cash on you.
not to mention you are in a luxury car as opposed to a smelly taxi. they wear suits and open your doors, carry car seats for little ones upon request and are in general very nice experience.

cheaper, better, cleaner.. just my .02

Taxis are OK, but they can be quite expensive. I recommend taking a Mears shuttle instead. They are reliable, safe, and MUCH cheaper than a taxi.

They operate out of the Orlando Int'l Airport and you can arrange to have them pick you up and drop you off anywhere. Here is their link:

I've never seen of any crimes committed against taxi RIDERS. Usually its the drivers who get robbed or mugged by passengers.
Always use a licensed taxi -- you can see their license posted in the back of the cab.
Check with the hotel clerk -- they would know if their had been any incidents and can probably direct you to the best places to get them.
