I am a liberal because I can not think for myself and believe that the Government should take care of all my needs. I believe that everyone should have the same money in their bank account, regardless of whether they work or not. I expect the rich to pay for everything, even though they already pay the lion’s share, while I pay for nothing. I do not believe in God unless it is to my advantage. An example would be the hurricanes. I will tell you that God is angry with Republicans.
I believe that multiculturalism is the perfect utopian society. People should “celebrate” their differences and avoid fitting in. I believe that we should afford rights to terrorists and support them regardless of how it affects our troops. I think that trying to protect America is a bad idea. We deserve what we get. I want my leaders to have no ideas and to always throw out the race card. I expect hard work to be punished and no work to be rewarded. I want access to the courts when McDonalds makes me spill coffee on myself.

I can understand the need for people to believe in their political place but I tend to think that most of the conservative right-wingers don't even know what it is that they are voting for. If the world ends up as a place where the extreme wealthy control everything and poverty is just accepted as just the way it is, we are in trouble as a species. I listened to the Clinton speech yesterday and he is right. We have to make the world a better place for everyone not just the top 1%. For this reason I tend to lean to the left. Just tonight I was explaining to my co-workers that where we live people get the better jobs because of who they know and what families they are born in to. Of course this may not apply to highly educated jobs but being in the proper social circle does increase the chances for advancement. Do we really want to live in a world where the people are judged from their family history? I think it was what we were trying to get away from 200 years ago when our constitution was being formed. An extreme version of fanatical right wing supremacy would be the science fiction movie I watched the other night. The machine asked the guilty individual if he believed in god, "no" he replied and then he was reduced to bones. I think that liberals tend to honor individual rights more so than the conservative opposite. Of course the liberals always get sucked in to an abundance of government formed and sponsered programs which earns them the label of being big spenders. This trend has been contained over the past decade or so and the Republicans are the ones spending the money they don't have. If America is going to turn in to this society of mutual strength a new form of structure is going to have to include a system where people really think they can succeed. Right now too many people are struggling to keep up to their bills. A sign that the middle class is fading.

Haha, that's pretty far from a liberal mindset, but I'll give you points for trying.

I, while not a liberal myself, live in quite the liberal economy, and it is not really about having the same amount of money. For example, I am a student, so I receive money from the state to pay for my studying (free education, plus up to 500 euros per month for living expenses)- since they are going to benefit from me studying anyway, and that way I wont be indebted until I am 30 and can afford to rent an apartment in the capital, without leaning financially on my parents- who are poor anyway.

Of course, I also work part time, like a good republican. I pay 6 % of that in taxes, though. Hmm.

Liberals believe in liberty and justice for ALL. They understand that opportunity doesn't grow on trees, a society's wealth must be shared equitably.

Conservatives believe in liberty and justice for the FEW. The lucky few push the myth (fraudulently, to keep the masses happy so they won't revolt against the social order that rewards only a few) that opportunity grows on trees and all one has to do is go out, find the opportunity tree and pluck some opportunity for themselves. This is naive idealism out of touch with the fundamental basis of economics- scarcity.

It's that simple.

You obviously never learned the lesson of musical chairs in elementary school - to have one winner you create 9 losers. That is the distribution of scarcity in conservative economics in a nutshell. Liberals, on the other hand, have a heart- much bigger hearts than the conservative heart, and want to share liberty and justice with everyone.

It turns out that modern liberals are closer to Christian ethics than conservatives. Conservative greed and selfishness have turned them away from holiness.

Oh my!

Liberals are motivated by the same concerns for justice and fairness that others are. They just see situations differently. For instance, liberals want to protect people from "big business," while conservatives want to protect small businessmen from "big government." I think they are well-meaning but mistaken.

I know. I USED to be a liberal.

But I don't know that a sarcastic, insulting tone really helps to start a sincere dialog.

I'm a Liberal because, the current alternative is to eliminate my freedom, and force me to live by the im..moral ways of the right wing christian ( Taliban equivalent ) Republican government, who have no qualms in forfeiting the lives of American soldiers for their amoral war.

You've got a lot of misconceptions.

You are a typical parrot, just swallowing up everything Rush or Hannity has to say and regurgitating it.
Stop listening to your ignorant redneck family about all the "evils' of "liberalism"
and get informed about how corporate America is taking over your government and writing your laws.
