Yet Optimus Prime was the leader (well until Ultra Magnus and then Roddimus Prime) but my Favourite Autobot was Jazz, simply because not only was he a cool robot but also a Porsche 911.

while i must agree that optimus prime is the badass of the universe, you gotta buy these things. they just came out with 10th anniversary beast wars figures (my favorite transformers) and they are awesome, rhinox and cheetor!
