I have ridden all the 3 bikes. i like pulsar for its power & braking. but hate its gearshift pattern & notchy gearbox. About Unicorn its so smooth, but it looks very plain with no aloys. :-(.. i like apache for its looks & handling. but i found the gearshift to be hard.. also i read its lillte notchy initially..
My preference goes like this Apache, Unicorn & pulsar. pulsar is a good bike but its now very common. and i want something different.
My safe option is unicorn.. but cant live tht style.
Can u guys help me out.
i want to really know whether apache is worth to buy..
Since its been to market for few months, i'm not in a position to analyse its reliability..

Please send me some comments..

You seem to have done the home work very well and I appreciate for what you have concluded. The pulsar is a good bike but it is as common as cold. The Unicorn is good too....but looks older, ordinary and is too basic(no alloys). The Apache looks right and not many on the road will grab a lot of eyeballs. There is not much difference among the Apache, Pulsar and Unicorn in terms of performance and fuel-economy. Much depends on the rider than the bike. A 0.1 increase in power( or torque ) figure or 1 kmpl are not doing to make any significant difference to your traveling time or wallet. However the Unicorn has a refinement that is in a league of its own. But to many people, the noise (not much) of the other two only attribute to the sportiness of the bikes.
Let's take a different perspective this time by taking into account the wheel sizes.
The sizes of wheels are different though.
Bike Front Rear
Unicorn 18inch 18 inch
Pulsar 17inch 17inch
Apache 17inch 18 inch

Let me tell you this- Larger wheels give better top speed and stability, but at the cost of acceleration and also makes it difficult to change direction.
Smaller wheels improve acceleration but reduces the topspeed, but make the bike lively and easier to flick around.

The larger wheels have larger gyroscopic forces around them which make them difficult to tilt. . Tie some weight at a string and whirl it at two distances and change the direction. It is easier to do that while keeping the dia minimum..

Lets come back. A smaller wheel not only improves the acceleration, but also aids steerind the bike faster. But it also has its dis-advantages. The Apache combines the best of the two worlds and breaks the monotony of Pulsars and Unicorns. Go for the new kid of the lot. Reliability is not an issue with the Apache but the stiff and notchy gearshift may not be very pleasant at first(It will free up a bit in a few months) Happy motoring,

Dear friend,
I suggest u to go with PULSAR only .
Apache,s look is realy good but it has a vibration problem as soon as it reaches at 60
I dont know more about Unicorn
I have been using Pulsar 150 for 2.5 years back. And I am very happy with its performance.
I am getting an average of 48--50km per ltr.

don't think about which is common now,try to buy a bike which is good in most of the features,if u buy a bike which is newly launched which is not good in condition and bad mileage, will u satisfy. Now if u buy apache after six months pulsar 225 will launch then apache will be old.u only saying pulsar is common now,u only telling that most if riders satisfy by riding pulsar,if it is good then it will not be COMMON

hey i think i would prefer u to go for a pulsar! i have been riding a pulsar for a long time. and its really great. i have also9 tried others but didnt get the feelin of riding in them.
wel i feel apache is very small and not that much in shape wen u compare it. well its worthbuying it coz its featues are available in cheap. about UNICORN I WOULD SAY THAT ITS DA BEST IT HAS EVEYTHING N ESPECIALY THE suspension its awesome. but well pulsar is the best for its styling and performance.
hope u make a fair decision

I myself own a 150cc bike.Unicorn is the best in mileage and looks.U can customize it according to ur chioce by puttin alloy wheels. According to market survey unicorn is the best available bike in this segment with apache and pulsar just behind it.

u know wat bro i think u should opt out of these three . y ? 'coz pulsar has good look and gives gr8 mileage, apachhe does look good but u know handling needs attention and uni has got 18 out of 20 by top gear best among three. i dont like uni's look though. y dont u try pulsar 180. it'll cost just 3000 more. it will give u more power and gr8 looks. my point is choose something different from the usuall. and always believe in bajaj bikes .they r good.then honda . then anything else.
