All depends on where you live and what service providers are near by.
If you are in London there is a good chance you will get high speeds in some areas I would think 16mb is possible, but I would think this is not very common.
Rest of the uk the highest in reallity is going to be 8mb although I onlly know one person who can acheive this and he lives in a new house near an exchange. I only get 3-4mb but I live in anold house whith overhead cables and quite far from the exchange.
You should really look for the best price, if you cant be bothered get a bt conection they are very stable ive not had a problem with mine in 5 years

I have Talk talk broadband its free,if you take out the phone plan with them, which gives you free land line phone calls to all numbers beginning with 01 or 02,as well as other savings,it costs £21.50 a month altogether and the broadband is a lot faster than my previous provider Tiscali,I'm very happy with it,the only thing i would advise you if you did order it,if you have a local carphone warehouse go in there to order it rather than ringing Talk Talk directly, its a lot quicker that way.

lots of companies offer "up to" 16 meg but it all depends what is at your exchange.
As BT have been made to let other companies in their exchanges now, it all depends who have been in there to install their equipment ie, bulldog are in mine and i can get good speeds through them.
So I would advise you to call all these companies who offer these fast speeds and see if they are at your exchange.
