I heard that VW's are really good on gas. I heard that the VW bug and van can get like 60 mpg. Try this website if you are looking for a newer car. It says the new beetle gets 44 mpg.

I prefer the Honda Civic. It would be best for most economical cars if you can drive a stick shift transmission. I suggest the Civic, but the Corolla is also a great car.
If it is your first car, go with an automatic transmission rather than a stick shift. They slight loss in fuel economy is offset by safety of not having to do too much at one time.

Any small or midsized car that has a 6 cylinder engine will get pretty much the same gas mileage. Good Luck!

The Ford Focus or the Dodge Neon. I drove both as rentals and liked them both. My favorite was the Dodge Neon. It wouldn't work for us because my husband is so tall.
