If there were two of you, you could be fish and chips.

Or you could go as an iconic figure surely? Or just an example of dress from a certain era? A city gent? A fox hunter? A British 'bobby'?

Iconic....

The industrial revolution began here, so maybe as a water wheel.... maybe you could go as an empiricist... beating down some Johny Foreigner (good if you had a mate willing to play the oppressed ....

You could go as Dr Who - or Pete Townsend (Mr Who, to you, too)

I can imagine it would be fun to go as a Dalek (they were never really interested in invading America, so they had some sense)

How about 'green & pleasant land' rolling green hills (some chenille or velvet..) blue ribbons of river, with a hat made to look like Stonehenge....

or just a long glass of Guinness.... mmmmmm

With Trafalgar day approaching (21st October) how about Nelson's Column? That way you get an icon of a great British icon.

How about a chef's hat, apron, utensils and a barbecue, but with a huge grey cloud and bits of glass-beaded-curtain hanging off your hat to signify the Great British Summer Barbecue?

Look at my picture - I dressed as a Victorian gentleman for that fancy dress night - I felt less of an idiot than when I dressed as a clown! LOL
