At present I have the following options :

1. A beautiful, noble lady is ready, able and willing to commit to take care of me for the life. There is no guile or hotch potch. I accept her and go ahead.

2. There is an old friend of my not so beautiful lady with some good qualities but who does not care for me presently. She is also surrounded by / close to people with disputable reputations.
I try to win her heart and hope things will be better in future.

3. I reject them both and remain totally non committal.

In your opinion which of these options should one select and why ?

You mean to tell me you have to make a decision on this? Egads. Where does the decision lie? Go for #1 and stop hemming and hawing.

If you are willing to commit to the "beautiful and noble lady" and genuinely care for her then I say that she is the best choice. However, if you aren't interested in committing to anyone and/or you don't feel that you care for her enough, then you should spare yourself and her the difficulties and pain that would come from forcing a relationship that isn't meant to be. You don't describe your old friend in a very complimentary way and you stated that she doesn't care for you at this time, so it seems like it would be unwise to pursue her.

Personally I think you should choose number 3 - reject them both and then leave them to get on with their own lives in peace.

Then sit down and be tough on yourself. You obviously dont really care for either of these women, and the fact that you mentioned that one will 'take care of you for life' shows that you are only concerned with what you can get out of a relationship.

Start thinking about what you can do for others and then maybe next time you are faced with this decision it will be easier for you to be tough. Fool!

I would say if you have to ask you are matybe not ready to commit yourself to any one and therefore number 3 is the option to take. If you are not completely satisfied with number 1 and number 2 is not satisfied with you then neither relationship will work.
Go it alone and find out what you want in life maybe if you decide you really want to be with number 1 she will wait for you or maybe it is just not meant to be and you will find your one later on in life.

Good luck!

Its more important that the person cares for you personally.
Besides, I can foresee the troublesome people around your old friend will show up at your door one of these days if you pick her.

If you want happiness, suggest the noble lady.

If you want huge accomplishment (let's hope), suggest the friend.

If you want to be in the state that you are now, and not rueful about your choice, suggest not making a decision.
