Why not? Tied attractively I see no problem. Great when you're having a bad hair day, or have had chemotherapy.

If the men have to wear ties, why not make something compulsory for women too?

If they are handling food, then perhaps yes - but this goes for men too.

I'd much prefer to wear a headscarf than a baseball cap. And I'm a man.

Yes they should.
Once the woman herself feels she is comfortable, a scarf does not hinder her performance.
And it doesnt matter if it's religous or not but ignorant people will feel the need to object and make harsh statements.
If a woman wears anything to work she just has to remember to keep it professional and simple.

I don't think anyone should be forced to wear headscarves. I think if they want to then they should be allowed to wear them anywhere they want to. However I don't think many people would want to.

Its rather like a guy wearing his trilby at the desk! wouldn't look normal I think, but everyone to their own thing

Yes, no problem with that. Everybody's free to do what makes them most comfortable with their looks provided they do their job properly. See no hindrance whatsoever!
