Going to Reykjevic in November, any where in particular to go?

For 4 days is it worth hiring a car? there are 5 of us

While I've never been to Reykjavik myself, it's a place I've always wanted to go. Here's what I'd do if I were you:
-White water rafting
-picnicking by the waterfalls
-whale watching
-dine icelandic cuisine (they're known for gourmet seafood)
-Stargazing the Northern Lights (aurora borealis... search for photos, they are absolutely breathtaking)
-finally, take an evening flight back home, check out your hotel early in the morning and go to pamper yourselves at the Blue Lagoon (natural hot springs)
