Allot of it depends on what he/she has had so far and the number of teeth they have. The fewer the teeth the softer the food. If you can smash it up in your mouth with your tongue and gums it is a go.

Fruits and veggies are good, pastas too but watch the sauces. Too spicy or rich can give tummy aches especially if they are not use to it. Rice and soft breads are good but watch the carbs, don't turn them into carb addict of they will want that over the veggies and stuff.

Done but not over cooked chicken is good, cut small it is easily pliable in the mouth, lean ground beef, pork or poultry is good too. Again just watch for seasonings and marinades the first few times.

Cheerios, kids love them, Kix are also good, any smaller non-sugary cereals are good for snacks, so are animal crackers and Nilla Wafers.

Take cues off of their favorite jared foods and see what you can come up with. Frozen mixed veggies are good to have on hand, you can steam just what you need at a time for fillers when you have something the baby can't handle yet. Also some high fiber or whole wheat pasta is good to, cook in a little broth or stock, throw some veggies in and that makes a nice quick meal when you are having Pizza and the baby can't handle it yet. Just drain the broth off first before you serve it.

A year old baby can pretty much eat any kind of food that you put in front of them as long as it is cut up into tiny pieces.. finger size so that they can pick it up and eat it on there own they should have pretty much all of there teeth so put it in a small bowl on there tray put a spoon there for them to use and let them work at it.. and when they are done try feeding them a little bit more because they won't get enough to fill them up on there own.
main thing is to cut up small so that they don't choke..
meats, small pieces of hotdog, hamburger.. steak is still a little much for them to chew..
fruits veggies. they can have it all and they are good for them..
it gets messy so put a sheet or something under there chair..
good luck

Any of the jarred baby foods for older babies but a lot of times kids don't like the baby vegetables (which are very important) so you can get frozen vegetables and microwave them until they are soft but not mushy. The more they are cooked the less nutrients are in them because they are cooked out of them. Babies like almost any fruits especially bananas. You just have to be careful with small fruits like grapes so to prevent choking on them. Babies don't always like meats at that age but macaroni and cheese is good, or Spaghetti-O's. Applesauce (comes in different flavors now) and yogurt and even pudding is good. You just kinda have to use your imagination and try to think like a baby or kid. It worked for me and my daughter and grandson.

This is a great age to start them feeding themselves which helps you out a little except for the clean up. Good Luck

My one year old tends to eat whatever we eat, just smaller portions and chopped up. Her favourite is spaghetti bolognase. Just keep an eye on your little one, and watch for any reactions after eating- my daughter gets hives after some foods, we just give her 2.5 ml of piriton to calm her skin back down, but keep a note of what caused it, then you can let your baby's doctor or health visitor know too.

I'm not saying that your little one will have allergies, just watch for them in-case.

I would recommend avoiding really spicy things though.
Let him/her try what ever is on your plate, and if baby isn't interested in specific foods, give it time. I thought that I was never going to get my little one to eat fruit, she would scream and cry if she ever saw it on her plate, and wouldn't eat it for about about 8/9 months, but in the last two weeks, has discovered that she loves it...i think it's all about her gaining enough confidence to know she can handle the different textures.

Good luck!
(Don't forget to put your big splat mat down first, just to keep your floors clean!)

My friend just bought a copy of this book she found on a review site. http://www.roundtablereviews.com/roundtable/Archives/karmelannabel82906.htm

She loves it. There are tons of foods/recipes for ages 6 months and up. She has an 14 month old who has been eating baked fish, broccoli, macaroni and cheese, etc.

At that age they can eat whatever you eat. Just make sure the pieces are small and soft to avoid choking. Most babies this age like to feed themselves.

Try finger foods, like cooked potato cubes, steamed garlic cloves, or tofu cubes, or persimmon slices. Avocado is a favourite food of most toddlers, if you can afford the expense. I used to make arrowroot cookies for my daughter when she was that age. She enjoyed gumming them when she was cutting teeth.

thing that are soft and make sure like hot dogs and hamburgers are mushed up. They can also have pears, mixed fruit, peas etc. I started giving my child table food at 9 month. He had a lot of teeth.
