I have been corresponding with an older man (we are both in our 40s) for 3 months now. I think he is getting serious - he said "love you" for the first time. But i can't say it back to him as we haven't even met each other. However, i like him enormously and think we may have a future. What do i do next? Should i be open with him and tell him of my uncertainties?

Tell him you are very interested in him but the "L" word shouldn't be spoken until you guys meet and have an actual normal relationship.

There are two points some people hide their personality and show a good picture in online. Some times we may not believe them. First u have to do met him and talk with him, continue for some time, then definietely u might understand what he is , whether he is good or bad. Then u think about the next step.

Forget the "love crap". He is the man who you want him to be because you can hide behind the keyboard. Don't trust it......I know about these things. Online dating is a longshot and forget the long distance thing. I knew someone who met a guy over the internet and met a few times in person. She quit her job, packed her things and moved 650 miles into his place. Later, she found out that he had lied to her about so many thing that it was pathetic. While she was there, he was still doing his internet dating......well, it was a nightmare and ended up costing her thousands. Nope.......find a guy near you or you will be sorry!!! How can you "Love" someone that ou have to met? He is setting you up for sex.....he is probably a predator!

Now this really worries me. It is different chatting to someone on the net than meeting them in real life. My daughter is 15 in Australia and she has been chatting with a guy who is 39 from Canada. Now it is not the countries that worries me it is the age as you can appreciate.
I know you are both about my age in you 40's , My advice is be honest with this person.

i does no longer evaluate him your boyfriend purely considering which you convert "i admire you"s, close acquaintances say that to a minimum of one yet another lots. Why must you may ask in case you may call him your boyfriend? After 6 months, if he's not waiting to fulfill you, then ask him why. to no longer push him into it, yet to work out if there's a particular reason he's not delicate, and to work out if there is any way you may ease his soreness. i does no longer bypass out finding for somebody new suitable away, nevertheless. i might say that once a 12 months if he nonetheless does not want to fulfill, then there is something else occurring and that's time so which you would be able to head on.

Yes tell him. I think let him know that because its online, why dont we just meet each other and see how we feel about each other in real life. Its important to be clear and understand each other.
Just let you know that I met my bf online for 6 months and we decided to meet and go on a date to see how we felt about each other in real life.

But if his from the otherside of the world then set up a webcam and have virtual dates. hehe

Take your time honey. But let him know how you feel and don't tell him you love him until you know you really mean it. Plus make sure he's not psycho. People often throw the word "love" around and it loses it true value. I think he should understand if he really loves you.

you cant appologise for the way you feel or something you dont feel it is out of your control,if it does make you uncomfortable just say thats sweet and nothing else,,he will get it and if he asks you if you love him just keep it light and say you like him but love is a strong word as you havent yet met.
