Yes, ask the English, about 400 years ago they invaded Scotland and made it illegal to speak Gaelic our national language, the fine was imprisionment for doing so, now 400 years later they want to bring it back, except only about 5% of the population know how to speak it now, most of them from the islands.

If there's a secure place for Kurds in international, it is Turkey.. it is the reason they are performing as a naughty new child.. besides,do not worry your self with Kurds and Turks. Whoever stay under the Turkish flag is Turk and characteristic comparable rights

I know of 3 other cases, Gaelic in Ireland (and Scotland) when it belonged to the English, and Breton in Brittany, France, also Basque in both Spain and France.
In all cases it was for the very same reason as Kurdish, namely that a state had an ethnic minority within their borders which was striving for independence.
I'm not too sure about the time frames, and too lazy to look them up.
I'm sure you can find that out for yourself.
