I am nearsighted also. I wear glasses but mostly I wear contacts. My glasses have a coating on them that helps protect my eyes from the glare on the screen. You can ask your eye care specialists for the glare protection. I forget the exact name. It does help.

In either way you should always step away from the computer after an hour for about fifteen-twenty minutes. You do need to give your eyes a rest.

What does your doctor say? He/she should have told you when you should wear them.
If things are blurry 'up close' without them then you should wear them to help prevent eye strain.
If you see fine up close without them, then I wouldn't think you'd need them for reading.
Best thing to do is call the doctor or talk to his assistant, and ask them. It's better to bother them and find out for sure than to take the chance of ruining your eyes.

For what activities did your eye doctor say you would need to wear your glasses?

Speak to your optician or your eye doctor. They are the only ones who can tell you what you need to know.

You know, when people have serious questions like this one, a professional is the only one who can help.
