This is going to sound crazy but I just found out that I need to go from Berkely, CA to Modesto, CA by 8:30 am today How can I do that? I don't drive.

Go on craigslist.org and make a request in the rideshare section. Otherwise rent a car, or pay through the nose for a taxi ride (make sure you get reimbursed).

Public transportation. Get a friend to drive you and offer gas money.
Wish I could offer more, but I'm not familiar with the CA area.

take the bus! Nowdays buses are runing between Stockton, modesto and all cities in between!!
