John 15:6 - If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned.
Why do christians think that it is okay for their holy book to mention such atrocity then point out violent texts in the Quran and say it is a violent religion? do christians consider themselves a violent religion?

Mydreams, Your Religion does teach violence, i just quoted one of your holy scriptures so it is the actual religion itself that teaches violence, not people

as i have said in the past, people will always interpret these so called holy writings in the way that best suites their own personal beliefs. the scripture you have mentioned was used many times by christians to justify burning people they considered heretics.

no religion preaches violence, its the influential people who mold religion, and people to their will. Once Christianity was going through this phase, (witches were burnt, wars were fought, etc.)
now that Christianity is no longer a political power in the western countries it is not used as a tool for molding people, the west uses democracy, or economics to do that, all wars fought in the recent history by the west (World war 1 and 2, and others) were for economic reasons.
In the Muslim countries Islam is still a very powerful political power and influential people use it is a tool to control the masses. Besides the reason for this violence are not religion, but poverty, lack of democracy, control by foreign countries, (majority of Muslim countries are facing these problems).
One more thing violence has always been an integral part of human civilization (as a saying goes you kill one person you are a murderer, kill a thousand you are a conqueror)
and has contributed to our evolution, not only in physical terms, but also in philosophical terms. as long as we don’t control our population as a whole (there are 6 billion of us) , which we have never been able to do in the past we will continue to face violence,

Christians are brainwashed by the media
Have you ever wondered why is the US so much worried about security issues. The US is reaping what it sowed. The US wants Israel to keep weapons of mass destruction but not N.Korea Iran or anyone else its attitude is always biased and has double standards. Its no wonder everyone hates the US. I have come across a lot of Americans even on Yahoo Answers they always offend and abuse Muslims for no reason and I really get disappointed. People think Osama is representing Islam but actually he's not No one may judge or know a religion before discovering about its true meaning. All u people r just brainwashed! don't u c Wat they do with the poor Palestinians?Ever wonder who gets killed everyday for no reason? and recently they attacked and killed hundreds of Innocent Lebanese for no reason and ur government still backed Israel. At least the US should have been neutral in this case but Ur thoughts are totally biased against Muslims Ur not realistic. A single or few people are not representing Islam. The Qur'an is fully representing Islam. Everyone hate the US because of ur Pharaoh Presidents policies He has labeled Muslims as terrorists. Ur media is creating more hatred. Do u have any Justification for Wat happened in Abu Ghuraib Jail in Iraq and wats happening in Guantanamo bay? u people call urself civilized but ur not.
AS YOU SOW SO SHALL YOU REAP

It's not the religions that are violent. It's the people who don't practise that part. It's a fact that Islam is a religion of peace and just because the Muslims shown on the media are violent it doesn't mean that Islam teaches it. The crusades killed millions and millions of people, including Muslims all in the name of God. They might have thought they doing a religious duty but were not because Christianity doesn't teach violence as well. There is a lot of propaganda and people want to bring other peoples religions down.

properly, think of approximately it, heavily... ISlam forbids killing the harmless, forbids harming life, animals, plant life, or bugs.... Obligates paying the damaging fee rather recommends giving charity. Forbids harming others, phusically or emotionally.... i think of this is the definition of non violent.. and thats why that could be a non violent religions. As for the acitons of countless the muslims, properly, they have loose will, and a few of them use it against the regulations of Islam. SO why blame the faith?? in case you prefer to ask a greater robust question, it will be greater like: ISlam is a non violent faith, purchase why are some muslims aggressive??

Its not the religion, its the people. The KKK uses everything that they do, all the racisist, violent acts, and hide behind the Bible. Does Christianity teach that? no Muslims bomb themselves does the Quran teach that? No.

It is mentioned in the Bible about "Fruits of the Spirit". The ones who follow Christ tend to produce these fruits which are love, patience, etc. In the Bible, it says if one does not reside in Christ, one tends not to produce these fruits. Thus, since like a tree that no longer produces fruit, we wither and die, and are "cast into the fire", which can be also interpreted as "Hell".

History show that Christianity is not peaceful. Millions have died in the name of religion and Christians are always there to get their licks in.
Ironic, isn't it? Jesus preached love, tolerance and forgiveness. I don't think he meant love, tolerance and forgiveness was only for Christians! Jesus would be angry if he came back because his teachings have been perverted by the Church, by extremists and by small minded people.

it looks like all religeons are being used by people in every country in powerful positions as a tool to get other people to do what they want them to. would you allow yourself to be led by osama bin laden to fly into a tower full of everyday people who are just earning a living, which is what they have to do, for a not really very good reason? america is not attacking a religeon, it is retaliating. retaliation is far different than calling for a holy war, (jihad), on another religeon. every country has it's own problems within. it would be far better to deal with our own problems than to blame religeous beliefs of someone else. what every country does need to do is focus on terrorism, because no true religeon believes in anything but that you should love thy neighbor. that means that we should make elbow room for every one in the world, and accept them as brethren. in every religeon i've studied, love for one another is preached.i think that ties all religeons together, in that we are to love one another, as we love god.
