I used to work for work care drs (although not psychiatric drs they were for physical problems) however they would see a patent for about an hour and would then write a letter about 6 pages long on each patient.

I have myself had a work issue that I had to see a psychiatrist he saw me for about half an hour and then wrote a report saying there was nothing wrong with me and anything wrong with me had nothing to do with work after that I found out in Australia it is hard to get a psychiatric case believed the first time round someitmes you have to appeal a couple of times before your taken seriously and if people have depression and anxiety like me how many are really going to go through all that over and over - they more often than not just leave their jobs saving the company money. I was lucky in that the company I worked for at the time was sympathetic and helped me back to work in a job I could do.

Get a second opinion, and when you go in for an evaluation, write down everything from what you have on to your symptoms, documentation is the best, and make a copy for yourself, assessments can take as little as 15 minutes, they are taking your money, and you have a right to take up more than that quarter of an hour. I have had doctors, after a ten minute review, make a report that was all screwed up, because they are writing down only the basics, and afterward, making the reports, they tend to forget "details". Document!
