Learn it gradually.

Start cooking with basic ingredients.

Go shopping at your local supermarket and get ideas from friends and relatives.

Whatever you do, remember to watch carefully as you use the oven, because accidents can happen and homes could get burned when you don't pay enough attention to your cooking.

In time, you will learn. Everything takes time and patience.

Go to the library and borrow some books. Get a few different ones and pick out some recipes that you might like to try.
I watch the Food channel a lot and they seem to have some good recipes as well as tips on how to cook. You can also watch videos on how to cook on their site.
Also you might want to try www.bettycrocker.com they have some recipes for beginners.
Don't be afraid to try something out. The only way to learn is to go ahead and cook some of the recipes that you pick out. You are bound to make mistakes but, don't worry about it even the best of cooks make mistakes now and then.
Happy cooking!

I don't know how to cook much either, my partner does; so what we do is enojy eachothers company and COOK TOGETHER. He helps me learn and he teaches me new things. Biggest thing to know, PRACTICE MAKES PERFECT. If you cook once a month and it's terrible you must "cook" something once a week or everyday to become good at it. If you are married or with a loving partner, spend time together in the kitchen! :-D

Get with friends who can cook and have them teach you. Also, watch the Food Network - especially 30 Minutes Meals, Food 911 and such, they give you good basics. :D
