OK first I don't think your dumb. I think the only dumb thing you could of done was not ask if you didn't know. The bridal shower is where the brides closest friends and family - normally women, get together and have a night out or a fun party at home, some have presents, some don't, and some even use gag gifts. It is to celebrate the bride's wedding and the end of her single life. It is similar to the bachelor party or a baby shower, but just for the bride...

The bride is thrown a "bridal shower" before the wedding. Usually only other ladies attend this event. The maid of honor will host the event. The bride is presented with fun gifts and you play games. It isn't much different from a baby shower. One tradition is to save the bows off the presents and make a bouquet from the bows for the bride to use at her wedding rehersal.

Bridal Shower is a shower given by the women of the wedding party or close friends. Where guests are invited and they bring gifts for your house and for your future as a married woman some people do lingerie showers. It all depends on who is hosting it. Its just a good way to start a married couple with the essentials they need for a household.

ITS THE BEST PART OF THE ENTIRE MARRIAGE!!! You go and register at stores you and your boytoy like and pick out items you would like people to buy for you and your new home. Then people go out and buy them and give them to you at your PARTY(SHOWER) they "Showwer" you with gifts, and money!!!
