read a warning label that said exactly this:

Proposition 65 Warning:

Handling the coated electrical wires of this product exposes you to lead, a chemical known to the state of California to cause cancer, birth defects and other reproductive harm.

(then in bold print at the end it read)

Wash hands after use.

my question is, does anyone know if most household items (normal lamps and kitchen apliances with these same kind of wires) contain lead also?
cause if they do that's kind of creepy...
i know about lead and lead poisoning, i dont need a re-education on that, but i would like to know if i am being exposed to lead in increasing amounts around my home, or if this is just a fluke thing... and im also not some crazy hypochondriac or anything, but i DO have a small child in my home and several that visit often...thanks in advance for all your help!!

lol man could use your education on the effects of lead poisoning.

Lead is in some solders used on wiring. Most of your electrical wires are not exposed, they are insulated. The danger of shock would be greater than the lead if they were exposed.

Lead is a greater danger from the solder in your water pipe's joints. If your water has sat in them for a while, run the cold water for a while before pouring water for drinking or cooking. The city water should be safe, it's our homes that add small amounts of lead. For the same reason, don't use hot tap water for drinking or cooking food. If your children drink it in the shower, realize, they don't drink much, and if they do, enlighten them. I doubt anyone has been poisoned by tap water, but you don't want any of the side effects of exposure.
