I am graduted from a University last year. Now I am hired in the same university as a lecturer. But I am afraid to teach and even stand before people looking at me.
What do you think should I do to be confidant enough?

In your first class you should concentrate on making friends with your students. Just talk and discuss their views and opinions on various things. Develop a friendly environment.
You can also give your "alternate" email adresss for the purpose of being there for them online to answer questions, etc.
Teachers who make students via the friendship route are the most successful. Good luck =)

Get to know your students. I don't teach at a university but i do know that you feel much more confident if you get to know your audience. Do not tell them you don't know the answer to a question. This will lose their respect. Just say we will discuss that subject in the next class, and do the research before that class.

Show up well prepared and act comfortable but firm - don't speak as if you are uncertain about the facts. Also prepare a list of questions that may be asked so you are ready for them. Be friendly but not obvious. Make sure you act like you are the boss and know what you are doing.

be very well versed on the subject matter your teaching. if you understand it fully then you will be confident teaching it to others. if people start asking you questions and you dont know the answers then that brings down your confidence. And for christ's sake if you dont know the answer simply say you dont know the answer look it up and get back to the studient dont make something up!!

put a lil bit of liquid courage in a coke bottle and take it with you and sip on it. your confidence will shoot threw the roof
