Been thinking about enlisting and trying out. I'd like to recieve some information from someone who has done it or known someone who has.

you pretty much have to play at a professional(classical concert) level. you also need to be proficient on several instruments.

Auditions and slots are hard to come by. There was a person in myhusabnd's Boot Camp Division that was an MU. He put on E6 the day after he graduated boot camp. typically, the highest you can enlist with is E3.

Of the few occasions we put in musicians we had to look up the procedures. Stop by your local Navy recruiting office for details. It always required an extensive background in music and you had to audition before top brass. The ones we put in had degrees in music and were teaching at the local high school. Also understand, when they enlisted, the came in as an E-6. Hope this helps.
