I once read about a person converting from an Islam to a Moslem...or the other way around. Anyway, please explain.

If a person has converted into Moslem from Islam or Islam from Moslem it is the same thing.
Islam is a religion; it gives the Teaching of one God Almighty.
The people believing its teachings and having faith on it and Believing in the oness of God are called Moslems. Simply! "The people believing in Islam and declaring it as their religion are called moslems".

As other people have answered the first question, I can take a guess that maybe what you heard about was someone - Malcolm X and Muhammad Ali being examples - converting from the 'Nation of Islam' to traditional Islam (i.e. becoming a Muslim). This is possibler because the NoI, despite its name, is not considered by Muslim scholars to be a branch of Islam, so they're in fact different religions and one could convert from one to the other.

No, hun. You can't convert from Muslim to Islam. They are one and the same. Islam is the religion, and Muslims are practicers of Islam, which means submission to God. Therefore, Muslims are the ones who practice submission to God. Peace.

muslim is person who accept islam as his/her faith and the way of life.
Islam is a religion that accept Allah is the only One god and Muhammad s.a.w. is the Messenger of Allah. The ritual life of muslim is based on 100% of Muhammad s.a.w. sunnah ( the way he lived, eat, sleep, talk with people, walking, married, make love with wife, manage the country, mosque, go to war, and even went to toilet.
Islam has 2 approach that must be fulfill by each muslim :
First :with Allah, the Almighty - between the slave to god (Allah) - syahadah, pray, zikrulah, pay zakah, fasting in Ramadhan, haj pilgrimage.
Second with lives ( human lives, animals, plants and nature ) - Islam respect all human beings and nature. Non-muslim we called kuffar but not means muslim must kill non-muslim.
Non-muslim has a basic right same as muslim do but muslim can't married with non-muslim unless non-muslim converted into muslim.

Every part of life Islam has a own view. In our personal life or social life or political life Islam has a view.
So who believe and maintain the Islamic view and rules he claimed himself as a Muslim(who surrender to Allah).
