dun worry n stress so much. first i think u got to purchase a mixture of Baby Songs (English n Chinese) CD, play it in the car and at home over n over again. Dun worry they wun get bored. Infact they trying to remember the song. They might be playing with their toys but their ears are listening to the song.

Maybe you can communicate with your mother-in-law asking her to play the children CD or VCD during the day when both yr husband and you were at work.

Well Mother-In-Laws do have their own ways! You need to have some patience . Let the Music Listening habits of your son be handled by your Mother -in-Law for 2-3 more months . Don't react to her tricks . May be if she sees you not reacting , she may stop and then your kid may respond more positively to you .

Don't worry about your son's choice of music, especially right now. He probably enjoys the tone and music. Don't know what you believe about the spirit world, but he is probably just deeply in tune with his roots.

Our ancestry is Irish and Scottish. Our kids have always preferred the bagpipes and Celtic music over everything else as infants and toddlers.

Traditional music is better for his brain development

Kids like some things, and are completely bored by others. Sometimes they get bored watching things that they almost always liked before. Solve the problem by playing the one he likes to listen to. Bring the kids one out every once in awhile to see if he'll like it later.

Keep your son away from your mother in law if you don't want your son to end up as a Hokkien Ah Beng when he grows up! Please, we have enough Mark Lees to torment us! Your son should start nursery school quite soon....so he's gotta start appreciating ang moh songs!

Then again, my mum kept me away from her own mum coz she was worried I'd end up a foul mouthed Ah Lian. Eventually, I picked up all the bitchy ang moh habits which heartlanders scoffed at...so it's hard for me to integrate into Singapore society.

I guess it's important to strike a balance between your Asian culture and ang moh cosmopolitan behaviour.

Tell her to stay away from music and just concentrate on being a grandma. Grandmas take kids for walks, read to them, play toys with them. If they don't like the music grandma plays then she should stop. Good Luck
