Iraqi soldiers hinder U.S. efforts By CASTANEDA, Associated Press Writer

BAGHDAD, Iraq - The plan was simple: Iraqi troops would block escape routes while U.S. soldiers searched for weapons house-by-house. But the Iraqi troops didn't show up on time. If at all.

When they finally did appear, the Iraqis ignored U.S. orders and let dozens of cars pass through checkpoints in eastern Baghdad — including an ambulance full of armed militiamen, American soldiers said in recent interviews.

It wasn't an isolated incident, they added.

Senior U.S. commanders have hailed the performance of Iraqi troops in the crackdown on militias and insurgents in Baghdad. But some U.S. soldiers say the Iraqis serving alongside them are among the worst they've ever seen — seeming more loyal to militias than the government.

That raises doubts whether the Iraqis can maintain order once the security operation is over and the Americans have left. This is like Vietnam. All messed up!!

might as well pull out ! it ain't getting any better and never has been good doubt seriously it could get worse especially with the latest reports claiming our presence is causing the situation to progressively get worse after all if you remember the original idea to stop bloodshed caused at one time by the god awful despot Husein we are killed many many more innocent lives .........what about sheer ignorance is so damn attractive.......? does everybody in this day and age fall so easily susceptible to propaganda...?

#1.) You did not finish the whole story...and whats with adding unjournalistic lines. They are unnecessary and an obvious plaigerist offense.

#2.) Had I not seen the original...instead of supporting a pull-out or whatever defeatist statements you have, I would have shouted instead to turn Iraq into an irradiated wasteland. Now I can calm down and just say that they better rotate those Shiites in Bagdhad with ones who have few ties to the militias.

Yet another violation of copyright law by the habitual liar named erudite

again editing the story with added lines to make it seem like something it is not..... yet another feeble attempt to skew the truth..... why this repeat offended has not been banned for his continual violations is beyond me..... I will report again....

first addition.. "But the Iraqi troops didn't show up on time. If at all." This does NOT appear in the original story

second addition (which is a typical line from the habitual liar, is "This is like Vietnam. All messed up!!"

report this repeat offender whenever he violates a rule of Yahoo Answers.... and make sure his lies are exposed for what they are....

It must be frustrating, but then we are only there to help out in Iraqi-led operations and the troops will be coming home soon, right?
