He frequently has large whiteheads appear which are quite sore. What is causing them? He is very clean and showers daily and although he has a little dandruff, generally has normal hair. They have been appearing on his head for the last few years and are ussually worse just after a haircut. He has short, back and sides and washes with head and shoulders regularly. We really want to know what is causing them, what they are and how to get rid of them. Has anyone got any ideas for us?

it is all becz of dandruff and oily skin. well dandruff is the main cause for all this. do get some medication or move to some dermatologist. once dandruff problem is solved there will be less skin problem. whit head is becz of oily skin it should be cleaned and wiped up regularly otherwise they block the skin pores and end up in pimple

You should give tea tree oil a shot. I had whiteheads for a while and even tho I washed my face every night I still had them. So I used tea tree oil and within a week they were gone. Tea tree oil can be used for any skin type even if you have very sensitive skin. And in that case I would dilute the oil with either water or aloe vera gel, which you can get at any drug store. There are only two downsides to tea tree oil and that is that the smell is pretty strong, and it can dry out your face a little, which can be taken care of by using a moisturizer. The oil can be found in any drugstore/grocery store/health store in the same isle as the finger nail polish remover for about $6. There are many different kinds but you can get whatever brand as long as it says 100% tea tree oil. I would recommend putting it on at night before you go to sleep. If you have any more questions there are many websites about this product, or feel free to ask me.

Are you sure that they are whiteheads and not irritated hair follicles? He may be getting some ingrown hairs or something, especially if his hair is curly.
