Just over 2 weeks ago i had 6 teeth extracted (4 wisdom teeth) and of those 4 my 2 bottom ones were impacted and lying on an angle. My question is how long does the hole take to cover up as i am getting really sick of getting food stuck down there and also of the yucky taste! i went to the doc 3 days ago and asked if i had an infection because i was worried that this was not normal and he said that i did not have an infection and that everything looks ok so far... but i forgot to ask my questions, so i am asking anyone that know or has experienced this???

It seems like forever. But it will take a few weeks. Also, it depends on your skin. How quickly do other cuts and stuff heal? If you are quick healer it won't be long at all. But if you have a connective tissue disorder or something it will take three times longer.

However, not to worry it will close up. If after thirty days its not closed called the doctors office. You can always call them now and ask them. Do you have a follow up appointment? They should be able to tell how it looks by then.

Did they tell you to rinse with salt water? You should follow all the instructions they gave you it will close up the opening faster and most importantly keep it sanitary after that food has been stuck down there.

Hang in there. It will be over soon.

I had impacted wisdom teeth and nearly died of it. I was off work for six weeks but that was more than 20 years ago so I don't really recall how long the holes took to heal. But I can tell you that slooshing with salty water will help to heal things and Listerine will take away the taste

Tthe holes should be [pretty well closed at this point. Warm salt water rinses in the area will get rid of the food particles. Try to get the food from settling in the area, because that will cause pain and odour. The best one to ask is your dentist. Just call the office and the receptionist should be able to help u. Feel free to call there anytime with your questions.

A couple weeks, but you need to carry mouth wash or at least rinse with water after eating to get food out of the wounds. Salt water will help it dry up & heal faster. I would consentrate on trying not to eat with my back teeth. Try chewing near the front. But rinse & keep it clean all the time or you will get a infection & something stuck in there & they will have to reopen the wounds. Hope you get better soon.

it really depends on your body's healing rate.

they say usually a month.. but it took me two to three just to open my mouth wide again.. it also took me about a year or so until i started noticing the hole going away. it still annoys me though; still get food stuck back there 3years later.

best advice i have for you is go and buy a traveling toothbrush and keep it in your purse or backpack and make sure you brush well after every meal (which is what everyone should be doing anyways).

i think of you're able to attend. I have been given my know-how tooth out some days in the past and that i remember examining something before with reference to the way you're able to no longer get them out in case you purely have been given a tattoo or something that would desire to reason infections. purely wait purely a splash longer for the tattoo superb of success!
