I know you all just love my post because you respond to them. ;)

But I have one more question then I will talk with you all tomorrow.

What's so wrong with believing? I would rather serve God and find out in the end that he is real and spend eternity in heaven, than not serve him and find out that he's real and spend eternity in Hell. don't you think?

I know just what I'm talking about.

NOTHING IS WRONG WITH BELIEVING.

YOU MUST BELIEVE NOW OR IT WILL BE TOO LATE FOR YOU TO BELIEVE LATER!!!

Wouldn't it be great if some of theses responses actually addressed the question? Your QUESTION ....What's so wrong with believeing?.... I do not see that as "pushing your religion down our throats", but I know 'babygurl' does. Because that's how she has responded to many, many QUESTIONS asked by others. And then she hurls insults and judges you. Insulting people with name-calling and the ever-so-weak response of 'don't push your religion down my throat' never gains the respect of the respectful. There is nothing wrong with believing! And folks, why not try and give a respectful and intelligent answer to this persons question. Many Christians ask this question because it's a logical thing to wonder about. Thank you for asking and PEACE BE WITH YOU ALL! ( yes, you too babygurl)

You failed to mention the other 2 options in your version of what is known as Pascal's Wager. Believe in him and find out in the end it was all a delusion, or not believe in him and find out in the end you were correct.

Many atheist responses to Pascals' Wager can be found here, I think there's even a mathematical analysis uses odds theory that supports atheism as the best bet.

The harm is that religious belief is behind much of the violence and wars in human history. Men who engage in magical thinking (prayer) and who believe in mythological bronze age deities have access to nuclear weapons as heads of state. Religious extremists on all sides of the religious fences are always spoken of by the moderates as "not representative" of the majority. But the moderates share the exact same delusional belief system that the fundamentalists base their violence on.

Imagine you turn on CNN and find President Bush announced that he is now a firm believer in Zeus, that he had communicated with him, and it was Zeus' will that the USA bomb North Korea? Would you think him insane? Taking too much Vicodan? Had he developed a brain tumor?

That is the same feeling I have when I hear him praise god, and that god is on Americas side, and not the "evil-doer."

I am sure you will do no harm to yourself...or to me...but you are part of a culture that that tacitly endorses jihad and crusades, and is threatening both your and my and indeed the earths very existence.

In other words, you choose to believe in fear of the punishment you'll receive otherwise.

Your God claims to give you free will, but tosses you in hell if you don't obey his rules.

Me, I don't respond well to threats. If there is a God, and he wants to throw me away because I didn't believe in the image that other humans claimed was God's, so be it. If he wants to throw a man like Ghandi into hell despite his deeds on Earth simply because he didn't do them in Christ's name, so be it. I'd rather be a non-christian Ghandi in hell than someone who earned heaven because he/she was too afraid to do otherwise.

I spend 8 years in Catholic school and was physically beaten if I argued about the doctrines. I was always the kid that asked why? Then why again? There was never a debate only absolutism.

If I help people and do good and a supreme being wants to damn me so be it. The reasoning of most religions has parallelisms to Santa Claus.

The Trix Rabbit is my person savior.

Gosh, honey. It would be a good question if it wasn't so trite and naive.

What's 'wrong' with believing? You imagine we 'decided' not to believe despite our desires to the contrary? We don't believe because we think the notion of an intelligent being creating the universe is patently ridiculous. We aren't CHOOSING not to believe, we simply don't. Did YOU choose to believe 'just in case' there's a hell? Didn't think so. Well we don't believe in God just like we don't believe in the tooth fairy. Clearly if the tooth fairy is real, its wiser to believe in it isnt it? Think of all the money you'd make. Problem is, we just cant believe in something that ludicrous. Do you understand? I cant make it any plainer.

I have no need to force myself to believe, just because I may be wrong when I die. Why would a God make it so easy for his followers to doubt? Is he/she sick and playing mind games. IF there's a god, then he/she should act like one and make it apparent. What would be the purpose to make humans then let some starve, die of disease, and others get everything in the world. Come on.
Nothing wrong with believing, just don't come knocking on my door on my day off is all I say.

Whatever floats your boat.

If you want to "believe" in God while ignoring everything he said about love, compassion, tolerance, honesty, and judgement, then I'd say you have a pretty funny way of "serving" Him.

Let's hope God finds it equally funny--otherwise you might want to invest in some asbestos undies real soon.

Lady /little girl or what ever it is you prefer to be called. I don't have anything against peoples beliefs. The problem starts when incompetent people such as your self starts trying to push their religion onto others when it's unwanted. Why is it so hard for you to believe in what ever it is you want and let others do the same? Get a life you are really incompetent and I just read your post about gay people too. Your speaking privileges needs to be revoked! No I don't love your post! Yeah you need to go to bed cause you most certainly are not thinking clearly!
Go educate your self cause clearly you don't know much about Atheist. Atheist DO NOT BELIEVE IN HELL, THEREFOR THEY CAN NOT GO THERE!

There is nothing wrong in believing, it is just so illogical (no hurt intended). Don't you think it is weird to believe in something without prove? That is blind faith. Why be blind?

By the way, I do love to answer your questions!

There is nothing wrong in YOU believing

What is wrong is religious zealots trying to ram their beliefs down other peoples throats.

1) I've never heard of atheist tv channels or programs, yet all over the world there are religious channels, and programs on other channels, that try to force religion down everyones throats.

2) We don't go around yelling in the streets that believers are wrong, so why so religies have to stand on street corrners with theit sad little boards yelling about god/allah etc

3) We are happy to let you live your sad deluded lives believing in god/allah etc, why won't you let us get on with our lives believing in quantifiable things like evolution.

AND AS FOR YOUR SUPPOSED SOURCE:

Typical religious zealot comment there: I'm right and don't care what anyone says.

Well if you already know what you are talking about why bother with this question.

We already know you will pick someone that backs you up as best answerer because that's the way you lot work, it reaffirms your beliefs if you suck up to someone else with the same views as yourself.
