Apart from whats already been stated, i.e. one of you has picked up again, if you think you should, then its probably the right thing to do, however, if you are very early in sobreity, you wont be thinking all that straight, so i would suggest try talking to someone else that you know in the fellowship. There is also nothing to stop you sharing about your situation in a meeting that no-one knows who your sponser is, as is said, dont drink, go to meetings, the answers are there in the rooms somewhere.

Good luck.

A study showed that having a sponsor didn't make a bit of difference on whether a person stays sober or not, but BEING a sponsor helped the sponsor some.

Nowhere in the Big Book does it mention sponsors. I believe people do better if they have a handful of sober FRIENDS that they can talk to. The sponsor relationship is open to abuse and there are some sick people in the rooms. Why turn your decision making over to another drunk whose only qualifications are having been sober longer? Don't entrust your sobriety to anyone who may not have YOUR best interests in mind.

Just stay sober and don't let anyone judge your sobriety. Anyone tells you differently is wrong, they're not following what it says in the book.

If your current ones gets an unlisted number, moves away, refuses to talk to you, goes back to the alcohol. All those reasons or any one of them would be a clue.

Go with your heart. You'll know if he/she is not trust worthy or telling you things you don't believe in.
