I currently own two dodges. My 03 Intrepid has 112,000 miles on it and has been completely trouble free. Unfortunately, my 99 Durango has been a total heap from the day I got it. It has 109,000 miles on it, but I have had to spend thousands on it to get it that far. There is always something wrong with it and it never gets better. Right now it needs new ball joints. I just had new brakes and front rotors put on it (again). I had to have an intake manifold gasket put on last summer. Two freeze plugs have leaked on it. Electrical problems are constant. It misses sometimes. Last week, the idle air control valve went out. So far, it hasn't had major problems, but it is always something, and all this little stuff adds up to too much expense and too much hassle. I can't trade it off because resale value is abysmal and I owe about double what the thing is worth. I don't think I will own another Dodge any time soon.

This is difficult to answer precisely since reliability and value vary by model year and by specific model. I think it would be fair to say that DaimlerChrysler (includes Dodge) falls into the middle of the pack. On the average the brandsToyota and Honda are better; Mercedes and Land Rover are worse. Currently, I own four Dodges and one Chrysler. Three are newer cars and two are older. All have been good cars. I have also owned two Acuras which were absolutely superior vehicles. I would have bought another one, but during the purchase process the dealer tried to cheat me. So I bought a new Neon R/T instead. A good, non-biased source of auto information can be found in Consumer Reports magazine. CR bases its results on responses from thousands of readers who are not necessarily automotive aficionados. Best wishes!
