In spite of the equal rights as per our constitution and also possessing the right to vote the status a very high percentage of indian women is still not improved. The education and improved way of life is available to a very few people and the largest chunk is still in dark.

It is a very real question. ..Education and women empowerment on a mass scale can indeed improve the status of women in India. More and more women should be inducted into legislative,
executive and judiciary services. Without being simply
confined to hearth and home, they should be good entrepreneurs
and economic players as well. They have to find out all the
areas where they can excell and work out. They should gradually work against social taboos and religious superstitions and bring about radical change in the social scale. There is need for concerted efforts with all the enlightened people irrespective of sex in this respect. It is reformation for social change and acceptance as equal human beings that is time of the day. I suggest all these in the peaceful way. The whole earth will support it and all the facades will gradually fall down in the mainstrteam for good. This is in fact happening gradually, day by day. But the tempo has to be increased as compared to ancient times.

Best Wishes & Navrathri Greetings!!!!!

The government should be the one doing something about it... I did a research in school 2 years ago on the abuse of Pakistani women (including the Mukhtar Mai case), and though it is largely unrelated to your question, I feel the government should be the first to address such issues. Placing women lower in status to men is to jeopardize half of the country's talent, workforce, etc. In my opinion the most effective way to reach out to the people with regards to this is to start from the top down.

Education for everyone. Educated women have fewer children and are more financially secure. They are also better able to question their government and their situation. Health care for women is also incredibly important. A woman can't fight for her rights if she is sick or if she has sick babies or if she has ten babies. Or if she dies because she had ten babies in squalid conditions.
