Well, it didn't stop me, but it certainly stops a lot of other people. Also the idea of eternal life is very appealing to many. It offers an answer to the most primordial of all human fears: the fear of death.

The mere fact that if someone doesn't believe in God, why would he/she be fearful to get struck down? He doesn't have to pretend because as what we have read in the Bible, God can see through what's inside our hearts. Even if you do pretend to believe, God knows the truth. And God is so kind-hearted enough to struck down on anybody. HE will make us understand HIM better when the right time comes. It is what is known as the "calling." Everyone will experience the call in one's life., it is only up to oneself how to act on the call. Why don't we try praying so that we may realize if God is true or not. Might be true that God will immediately act on the prayers of non-believers.

No. I don't fear God. Maybe if I murdered someone I would have reason to fear. I live by the Ten Commandments. I believe In God with all my heart, mind, and soul. I think if someone goes to hell they would have to be murder's. I am true to myself. I can't hide from myself. What you see with me is what you get. I can't stand a phony. I like genuine people and you know who they are right away. They are the kinds of friends that give you comfort just to be around them. I believe in a Supreme Being and I believe He is God. I also believe all mankind have the same God. What messes up mankind is when politics's and religion get together and control with greed and the desire of wanting power.
There is only one God no matter what name religion wants to name Him.

I would think if you dont believe in God, it follows that you dont believe in Hell either...since wasnt the concept of Hell formed when the Devil (who was previously an angel) was cast out by God? You cant have one without the other....With regards to no one finding out, I am proud to be Agnostic and I wouldn't hide it, particularly since so many force their beliefs on one another anyway...

I've been open about my atheism since I came to the conclusion at 18 (confirmed catholic at 16, skeptic all along, then atheist). Though in all honesty it rarely comes up in real life. And while it shocks some people at first, I've never lost a friend or even an acquaintence as a result.

I know God exists.
By the way, if one fears being struck down by God, then one believes in God.
Moreover, anyone who knows God, knows that God knows your heart. So whatever pretense you may be attempting to keep up is wasted effort...unless it is so you can look a certain way to others...which is also wasted effort, but in a different way.

The fact that I know God exists stops me from admitting I don't believe in God. We shall all learn the Truth eventually.

Well, I don't formally believe in a God, but I recognize other people's gods, and no I don't fear that someone's God will punish me. I have worser fears than God, such as our government, and I'll leave it at that.

even as an atheist i find your question to be illogical. as someone who truly does not believe in any form of god or gods, i also do not believe in a hell. so anyone who believes in hell must also believe in some sort of divine judge or a type of god.
