Does the commandment included the sculptures of crucified or uncrucified Jesus that all Christians bow and pray to?
So, we Muslims are on the right path NOT TO HAVE any images what-so-ever of God or His Messengers.
Thanks man!

Yes the statue of Mary is an idol. According to scripture it is forbidden to worship graven images or to worship anything other than the one true god. So technically worshiping at an image of Mary is idolatry. And this is coming from and Atheist.

Of course, especially if one prays to it (oh, sorry...asks for it's intervention) and makes offerings to it, even food offerings.
Not only is the statue an idol (or any relic, for that matter), I would argue that Mary herself and other cannonized saints have been idolized contrary to Biblical principle.

It is sin to worship anything or anybody except God.
Statue is idol, and Mary is not GOD. So it is sin to worship statue of Mary

Catholics use images to remember real people. The best example is the imaage of Jesus in the cross. According to our believes, Jesus Christ went to heaven and he's sitting now next to his Father, God. However, people still uses the image of the cross (specially in necklaces) as a symbol to remember Jesus. The same occurs with Mary. Those stataues are a amonument to remember Her and Catholics use her image to remember Her. Just think of a loved one who is far from use... have you ever felt better or remembered her after looking at that person's photo?

Yes.
People will say "We don't pray to the statues they are just symbols that help us focus on God."
The ancient Greeks, Egyptians, Romans, etc prayed to statues of Zeus and other gods and they knew that it was not literaly Zeus. Zeus had many temples with many statues. They knew that it was only a symbol. So yes you are praying to the statues or else why would GOD say not to do it. When you make idols you don't elevate your concept of God rather you debase it by confining an omnipotent, ominpresent God into a "graven image".
"Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of ANY THING that is in HEAVEN above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth."
Exodus 20:4

No. If you read the commandment carefully, it begins with "thou shalt have no other gods before me" and deals with that subject.Taken in context, statues are fine. If not, we would have to rip down all statues and monuments. As a matter of interest, the bible gives detailed instructions about carving angels for placing on the ark of the covenant. If God did not want statues, he would not instruct us to carve them.
