Yes, I've been suffering of similar pain specially in the middle of chest, over my stomach and shoulder, I enjoy good general health, my problem is that I've been suffering of insomnia for many years and I have to swallow one slipping pill every night before go to bed, this have caused a proggressive irritation on the gastric tissues and some times bleeding, what I have found it works to neutralize those effects is to have a light dinner no later than 7:00 pm.(specially soft fruits with row oat spilled on, avoid citrics after 4:00 pm) drink a glass of chilled water and chow a couple of Calcium Carbonate or have a soup spoon of Aluminum Hydroxide gel (free selling in malls) just before go to bed, so the gastric acids can not work, avoiding reflux, chest pain and may be another hidden disorder he could have. Be careful with long term problems like gastric ulcer or capillary fragility which is not easily detected, my advise, check for the presence of "Elichobacteryum Pillory" in your stomach, it is very hard to find and produce serious effects even cancer.

oh yeah, I have had two surgeries for this. Mine is a rare story, but my stomach had migrated past the hiatil area and was behind my heart. Do you have a hiatial hernia? You might need an endoscopy.

Don't eat before going to bed three hours before bed time. Try to not lay flat. You need to elevate the upper part of your body to help prevent the reflex while sleeping. Some doctors say to elevate the headboard of your bed up to four inches. I use lots of pillows to elevate my body. You might need to be on a strong medication like previced possibably up to twice a day. It not only controls the acid output, but also helps in healing the irritate tissue. If you get a barky cough you need to see your doctor asap. Also if you have chronic laryngitis you might be having injury to your vocal cords. Long term effects can be errosion of the larynx and esphoagus. Might even cause cancer eventually.

Cut back on your food portions. Eat less food at a time and eat more often. Cut back on hot spicey foods.

It sounds like it is definatly time for you to see a doctor about this.

The Acid Burns the lining of your esophagus, this can lead to Esophageal cancer. See a specialist for this NOW! It is very dangerous. You can also use OTC products like Prilosec and Nexium. you have not mentioned your age ;in teenage girls it is most common associated with anxiety; this condition is gastrooesophageal reflex ;the causes may be pain killers; stressul life ; obesity;and spicy foods; ;you can take rid of it ;simply taking foods not spicy and drink water after 30 mints of food intake;and during sleep use some what a large pillow to prevent gastric contents to come upwards;and you can also use antacids and h2 blockers for a period';
