Any form of movement will decrease your weight.The more strenuous the exercise the more calories burned.It is very good for your calf's and hamstrings and this is why serious athletes incorporate it into their training programs.It is a little to hard to keep up as a weight loss exercise because few people are in good enough condition to keep it up long enough to see a caloric benefit.I'm sure this includes the people mocking you who do not know what they are talking about.
