I have no problem with my daughter playing with boy stuff, I personally think it's more fun ramming cars and building things than dressing barbies up. I am just trying to get her to kinda like both have her explore her options.

depending on your budget, there are a bunch of options for christmas presents whether you have more or little money. your son's presents, the ones he requested that is, are a little expensive, but an ipod is nothing he can really get in trouble with unless he uses it when hes in school and not allowed to...a nintendo ds...i dont know much about that, but that all game systems cost a lot of money. in both those cases, you have to remember, you usually pay for the songs you download on the ipod, so the cost of the present doesnt really stop...and same with the nintendo, there is always more games coming out to add to a collection.
for your daughter...you mine as well get her something she will definitly, no doubt play with. since her b-day is before christmas, maybe you could test out bying her something unisex leaning towards the girlish side, like neon colored legos that are sized appropriate for toddlers. babydolls/barbies would definitley be pushing it if she isnt into girl things...i work at a daycare so im trying to think of things that the kids play with in the toddler room that can go both ways...like kitchen stuff, or cleaning equiptment (both child sized for pretend play)....that might get you going in a different direction. either way, know that they appreciate their gifts (hopefully!) and just go with your gut...check out multiple places toys before buying anything and be observant on what your children are interested in...(ex. music, blocks, movies...) good luck!

An iPod for a 10 yo....if he wants video ...you are talking several hundred dollars. If he likes music ..under 70. But if he is a rough and tumble kid who is careless .....not a good idea. How about the fly---the pen based computer for your son...goes around 100 plus accessories. If you son is active - ice skates or how about karate lessons.

And there is nothing wrong with a girl liking boy stuff, is she is active...get her active toys...T-ball, soccer, a bike with training wheels, swimming lessons. Those v-tech computers. I try to get things with just a few pieces for sanities sake, love legos, but they hurt to step on.

personally, i think an ipod is a little extravagent for a 10 year old. i would maybe get him a nintendo, but under the circumstances that he does well in school, listens to his parents and does chores. for your 2 year old girl, if she like boys toys, then get her boys toys. encourage her to be herself, not who you or society thinks she should be. if you personally have a problem with your daughter playing with "boy toys", then get her something neutral like "play doh-ggy" (a toy dog that you can put play-doh in and make stuff), a tricycle, or a swing set.

Depends on how much you usually spoil your kids. Get your girl some Tonkas - she'll love them! Your son's wish list seems a bit pricey, but if you can do it, why not, eh? Otherwise, get him a model to build, some books, and CDs.

Start her out on Little People by Fisher Price. They are unisex toys. They have things like air planes and trucks but also princess castles. She may like them.
