** I would liked to ask that if you want to say Holy spirit please first read the whole text

1-John chapter 14 verse 16:
"And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you "another" Comforter, that he may abide with you forever."

2-Gospel of John chapter 15 verse 26:
"But when the Comforter is come, whom I will send unto you from the Father, even the Spirit of truth, which
proceedeth from the Father, he shall testify of me"

3-Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 7:
"Nevertheless I tell you the truth; it is expedient for you that I go away: for if I go not away, the Comforter will not
come unto you; but if I depart, I will send him unto you".

**Some Christians say that the Comforter mentioned in these prophecies refers to the Holy Sprit. but
the prophecy clearly says that only if Jesus (pbuh) departs will the Comforter come. The Bible states that the
Holy Spirit was already present on earth before and during the time of Jesus (pbuh), in the womb of Elizabeth, and again when Jesus (pbuh) was being baptised, etc.
whereas the Bible says "....for if I go not away, the Comforter will not" so the comforter WILL NOT COME even just temporarily when Jesus is on earth
So according to 3-Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 7, the comforter cant be Holy Spirit .
***********************

Gospel of John chapter 16 verse 12-14:
"I have yet many things to say unto you, but ye cannot bear them now. Howbeit when he, the Spirit of truth is
come, he will guide you unto all truth: for he shall not speak of himself; but whatsoever he shall hear, that shall he speak: and he will shew you things to come. He shall glorify me".

and this was exactly the way that the Holy quran was revealed to prophet mohammad he used to just repeat what was
revaled to him , and he did not add or delete any words from it.

any ways this was my interpretation of these verses and I did not want to disrespect others.
peace to you all

Dear chris
how are you sure that those verses that says " I and the father are one " are not changed in the history by men. some priest or .. .. .. .
or if not may be they have a symbolic meaning like in the highest levels of love
beloved and lover become one , and many saints and spritual beings said such things
when they become empty of their selves
(their own desirs )and become all the beloved .
like i read in a poem that some one asked another person waht is your name?
and he said the name of his beloved ... beacause he was empty of his self and was all beloved . '
may be the case of jesus is something like this . or may be the verses are chaged .. . .

Dear stephy
I dont think because qoran shares alot of stories with the bible that means it was copied from it, because the same god sent the Qoran who sent the bible he tells the stories of his prophets in both qran and the bible so its normal that they have alot of stories in common. just like old testemant and N T , can you say n t was just a copy of o t because it shares some stories.???
no the same applies in the case of quran
One God tell sent them have a lot in common, and quran was revealed to prof. mohammad by God thru gabriel.

Jesus never said anything about another prophet after him. You are incorrect.

The comforter is God the Holy Spirit, as Jesus himself said, if you had read the enire passage.

You are seeking truth and that is certainly an admirable thing.

Christians certainly beleive that these verses refer to the Holy Sprit.

Yes, your observation that the Holy Spirit was around prior to these verses is correct too but having the presence was limited to only few people. The Holy Spirit is part of the Godhead and the Trinity and therefore is eternal but the difference is we have not always been able to have an indwelling of the same.

Note how King David prayed that God would not take his Holy Spirit from him. The Spirit of God rested on some people in the Old Testament times as well.

In John 16.7 was the promise of a new time when the Holy Spirit would be available to all believers in Christ not just a few selected for special purposes. The culmination of these verses was the day of pentecost (in the book of Acts) when the Holy Spirit fell as tongues of fire and they had new boldness and supernatural fearlessness and spoke supernaturally in different tongues. If you read further in this book you can see the change in the disciples after being baptized by the Holy Spirit.

Jesus said 'I am the Way, the Truth and the Life no man comes to the Father except through me' and He also said 'I and the Father are one' so I do not believe that it was the Holy Spirit that spoke to Mohammed because the Holy Spirit will always be in agreeance with the teachings of Christ. The teachings of Mohammad were alternative to the teachings of Christ and both claimed to be truth. So a choice must be made by the reader as to who really did have exclusive truth.

Peace to you and I pray that the same Holy Spirit we are discussing will lead you into all truth

Afshin A.,
I wonder; what is the source for that interpretation that you are supporting? Is it a Muslim that gave that interpretation to you, pehaps from a comentary?

Whoever it was, they are wrong. Muhammed was not a pneuma, he was a man. men and pneuma are not the same. A man might have a pneuma, but a pneuma does not necessarily have a man.

Besides that; Muhammed was an anti-christ. Anti-christs deny certain things about Jesus that were true about Jesus.

For example:
1 John 1:3 That which we have seen and heard declare we unto you, that ye also may have fellowship with us: and truly our fellowship is with the Father, and with his Son Jesus Christ.

There is the author of the very Gopel you are quoting out of telling you that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. Like it or not, you are bound to this if you are going to pull out of the Bible one verse, or ten verses from the Gospel of John, you are to take also from the same John, the verses about his definition of what an anti-christ is. Muhammed comes under that scrutiny, because he denied those that are crucial to understand John's meaning, and the understand about the reality of Jesus Christ with HIs relationship to God.

Muslims are by John's definition "anti-christs" because they do not recognize the divinity thereof.

1 John 2:22 Who is a liar but he that denieth that Jesus is the Christ? He is antichrist, that denieth the Father and the Son.
23 Whosoever denieth the Son, the same hath not the Father: (but) he that acknowledgeth the Son hath the Father also.
24 Let that therefore abide in you, which ye have heard from the beginning. If that which ye have heard from the beginning shall remain in you, ye also shall continue in the Son, and in the Father.

Then he wrote about what you are attempting to do:
25 And this is the promise that he hath promised us, even eternal life.
26 These things have I written unto you concerning them that seduce you.

The Muslims should leave Biblical interpretation to the Christians. If there are any dicrepancies in those, chose the one you prefer, if you will. But Muslims and Atheists really suck at Biblical interpretation, I have fond none in my years that could do it properly.

Yes. These verses do have meaning, but not the meaning you so carefully describe.

For example, John 16:12"I have much more to say to you, more than you can now bear. 13But when he, the Spirit of truth, comes, he will guide you into all truth. He will not speak on his own; he will speak only what he hears, and he will tell you what is yet to come. 14He will bring glory to me by taking from what is mine and making it known to you. 15All that belongs to the Father is mine. That is why I said the Spirit will take from what is mine and make it known to you.

Obviously, Jesus is talking about the spirit of truth and definitely not a man, not a prophet. Since you believe in another prophet, you want to justify your belief with New Testament verses. The only verses that applies to you is the warning given to Christians about false prophets. Is Muhammad a false prophet? The bible is very clear on this point: A prophet is truly from God if he/she speaks the truth. all the time. Did Muhammad speak the truth all the time? We do know the Qur'an contradicts the New Testament pretending to offer a different truth.

You have your beliefs, but don't expect to find justification in the [Christian] bible.

Of Course we know of the Trinity. Father, Son, and The Holy Spirit. They are one and the same. With this said, the Son was already in the world before it started (John 1st Chapter), yet He was not conceived until later on. This same concept also applies to the Holy Ghost. He was already working in the background, but it wasn't until the Pentecost that He was truly shown for who He really is.

I Hope This Helps...

The prophesied coming Messiah of the Jewish people. whither that was to be Jesus or another is up for debate.
as the Jewish people are expecting a great warlord type of Messiah. THAT will lead them to victory over their enemies.
Jesus was supposed to be named Emmanuel but Marydid not tell Joseph and it was Joseph that named the child Jesus as it was a Patriarchal society at the time and the males wishes took precedence over the females.

The original Greek translation of Comforter denoted a human and not a spirit sent by Allah.

That person is Muhammad (pbuh).

FYI don (the real one I hope). Don't insult our Prophet by calling him Mo because no Muslim has ever insulted the Prophet Jesus (pbuh) by calling him Jess, Jessie or JC. People like you love insulting Islam and Muslims but the true Muslims have never insulted your beliefs.

"Cast the first stone"....looks like the Christians threw first. Who's the religious bigot now?

Afshin, We are made in the image of God. We are triune beings with a body, soul, and spirit. We are just one person though. God is a triune God. Just one God with 3 divine complete natures. That is the same as saying H2O (the chemical symbol for the bond of two atoms of hydrogen with one of oxygen) can be liquid, solid or gas. In the form of gas we call it steam, in the solid form we call it ice. Its liquid form is water. God is the Father, Son (Jesus), Holy Spirit. Often the H.S. is also in scripture referred to as she and called wisdom. All three states of being of this one God is able to take on any physical form desired.
That means the Father could appear as a burning bush or as a
piece of glass that won't break, or anything. Because this Trinity, to which we attach the noun: "God" is equal in power in all each of the triunity, the Son, whom took the form of flesh, and who has been named "Jesus", is also able to take any form desired and the same is true of the Holy Spirit. The Holy Spirit has been given many titles such as Wisdom meaning divine wisdom, the Comforter which means divine comfort not money or fame or anything earthly. The Holy Spirit also has the title of Spirit of Truth. It is likewise for the Father, that He has been given titles such as He Who Is or Grand Father, Almighty and so forth. Jesus was also given titles and a few of those are Son of man because He also took on a body, and Savior because He died for us, and Jesus Our Healer, the Great Prophet, and so forth. I have only given you a few of very many titles each of the triunity has. Yes, it is true the Holy Spirit appeared when Jesus was baptized, letting John see what he would later come to understand, that Jesus is part of the trinity and not an imposter. It was the child inside the womb of Elizabeth that leaped, not the spirit or Holy Spirit but you are right that the Holy Spirit has been with and guided some people before Jesus came-or at least the "spirit of God" did, and that may not mean the mean THE Holy Spirit, I am not sure. You are also correct that Jesus said He had to leave so that the Comforter would come, because Jesus was there and not the Comforter when He spoke this. While Jesus taught the people, the Comforter was not needed to do this, but the Divine Plan was that Jesus sacrifice His flesh and both make the way to Eternal Paradise available to mankind again as well as show them by example of a holy life, what it was God's word in the Bible was asking and not what others were saying it included or pertained to. That done, Jesus who died in the flesh and resurrected again proved He is God and to be believed, His mission that He came here for was finished and He had only to leave and return home to heaven. This made His believers very sad but He promised that when He left they would have the Comforter who instructs and brings to mind all that Jesus taught and that is in the Bible. All believers who are following in the footsteps of Jesus, inotherwords who obey follow the teaching of Gods words in the Bible in accordance with the example Jesus set, they have the Holy Spirit and are given understanding from the Holy Spirit concerning spiritual matters. There are other things the Holy Spirit does for us too, but I don't think you want a full understanding, just some basics. I hope that helped. I may as well elucidate that not all who believe follow, for even the devil believes in God and so it is too that not all Christians or all believers if you will, have the Holy Spirit guiding them. This would not be the world, it would be hell if no form of God was with any of His people here and by the same token if a truly great number of believers had the Holy Spirit in their lives this world would be a much better place. You do not become a true follower of God by going to church or reading or even studying His holy words, only by living them. It is just like standing in a barn or talking to the horses won't make you a racehorse either. Now, I hope you do not take this wrong because I mean it only in honesty and without malice but Muhammed said angels gave him the quran yet, it some of it almost word for word the words of the Bible and some of it tells the Bible stories differently-very differently but the quran is from about 622 AD and the Bible was written so many, many centuries before that, that honestly does it not scare you or do you not wonder where the quaran's words really came from? Before you ask, yes I have read the quaran and alot of other books just to be fair and I have read them in their various versions as well. I respect you as a person, and I believe it is your right to chose to believe whatever you want to but for that and many other knowledgeable reasons that go hand in hand with that date, I am afraid for those who believe the quaran because all books are available to check and a person should, but anyone who does believe only what is true, they are in danger of losing their souls, for wide is the foad to the gate that leads to destruction and narrow is the one that leads to heaven. I think you should read more but whether you do or not, if you just love God and fellow men you follow the direction God wants you to at least but please no hatred, no killing, no intolerance and please read more. May God bless you always. Shalom.
