It is never too late to start college. Yes at first it may feel awkward with a bunch of 18 yr olds running around, but the difference is that you are a heck of alot wiser than they, so dont let that bother you. Now about your low self esteem, going to college and actually graduating will do wonders for your self esteem. As far as not being a smart student, that does not matter. All you need to do is read and re read and re read the material until you get it. Thats it. Now, is it worth the time and effort...you can only answer that question, not anyone else. If you want to improve your life, then yes it is worth it. In this life you have to work for everything and going to college will take alot of hard work, but I'm sure you know that already. I'm sure you've worked hard all your life. Now, my friend, after graduating from college, you will be working "smarter", meaning...you'll still need to put in your 40+ hours at work, but more doors will open with a degree. Good luck to you.

Go! Run, don't walk to the nearest registration desk. With your life experience, many colleges will give you credit for "living". You can try some correspondence courses if you want to see how your concentration is. You've multi-tasked all your life, your ability to concentrate will be the issue now, not your intelligence. You may want to start w/ 1 class - perhaps an evening class to check out if this is right for you.
My wife dropped out a year after meeting me. 4 kids later, 3 still at home, she went back at 41. She enjoyed it so much more - and she had met the first time. What is a guy to do.

Great idea! You have the courage and smarts already, just direct it where you want to now. I've known many folks who go to school after years, and you really can be who you want to be. You are never too old to go to college or to pursue any other dream you have. You can go online, or attend a college, either way, you are doing something good for yourself and something fun. You have the support and the desire, so go for it! Maybe you could begin by taking something really fun to get back into the swing of things, like studying. :-) Blessings!

Most people go through a mid life crisis and change their lives/careers between 30 -45 . Weather it stems from divorce or just plain boredom after raising the family we realise the best way to start this change is through study. The Educational institutions love us. Mature age students take courses much more seriously than kids. We graduate. So the resounding answer is, GO FOR IT. Life is only fun while you are learning. Its hard work and totally worth it.

just jump in there with both feet and do it! I have a few friends who went to college in their 30's, 40's, and one in her 50's. You'll see there is a variety of students in college. Set a goal and go for it. You might consider, also, a 2 year nursing school. They get a pretty good paycheck and you would be an RN. The work is really hard though.

I work at a university and i have even seen grandmothers that have earned a degree, by saying that I mean it is never too late. College can be difficult for anyone regardless of age and experience. If you're motivated and have a good support system then go for it. Don't feel bad to take a semester off if you have to. Just take that first step!

No, you are NOT too old to start college. You should go to a community college in your city. There are a lot of middle aged adults there. They too have chosen to go back to school. Thus, it isn't uncommon. Don't be afraid and think that you are too old to go back to school. As long as you can hear, see, and think, you can be a student. Believe me. I once had a classmate that was in his sixties. You can do it! Just work hard and you can accomplish anything! Good Luck! :)

I have know people in their 60 and 70's who go to college to keep themselves active. Good for you.
41 is a good age, you are very young. I know people who has changed careers even when they were more than 50 years old. Good luck and God bless you and your family.

No, you are not to old at all. You can do anything you put your mind to. It will help you in your job skills and it will keep you focused on doing something for your self. Go for it and it will help you get out of the house. Have fun and make the very positive best of it just for you and your future. Plus you will inspire those that are around you that they can also do anything they put their minds to.

I'm 23 and had reservations about going back to school. I thought I would be one of the oldest students there. To my surprise, most of the students are in their 50s. Go for it girl!!!!
