I know you can do it where your parents sign off for you, and I'm pretty much positive thats the only way you can. If not, how can you? And if so, how do you do that with your parents?

There are 2 possible ways -

1. (The obvious) Your parents sign paperwork as co-signers.

2. You go to Court and obtain documented paperwork stating that you are competent to sign as an adult. (Of course, that's if the Judge believes you)

when they check your credit, they use your social security number, and thats how they figure out the age. I'm not for sure how the secured credit cards work about the age limit. But those are how you build up credit if you don;'t have any. You send them money, say $250.. which then becomes your credit limit. You can charge up to the entire amount,, and then its paid from that money.. You do that over and over month by month until you build up enough credit to where they will give you your own credit limit without the security.. They start you off small, like $200, and as you pay it back month by month, you'll earn a higher credit. Some people start out like that and end up with 10-20,000 credit lines! As long as you pay it everymonth exactly on time.Never be late! EVer!!
Other than that, the only thing you can do is have your parents add your name on thier accout, then they'll send you a card with your name on it, but its your parents credit line,, not yours. but its your card to use.... But you know what,, credit cards are the DEVIL!!! Trust me,, they can screw up your credit in a very short time. Just be smart about it!! EArning credit is a privilege,,, just like driving a car!!! and its soooooo hard to fix when it gets screwed up!! Good luck!!

I don't think it is a good idea to get a credit card as a minor. You don't want to get into a cycle of debt. Where is the thrill of being young and paying cold hard cash that you earned and saved up on something you wanted. Yes, it may look wonderful to see hundreds or thousands on a credit card. But remember you will have to pay it back. Just a thought.

NOPE .. you can't enter into a legal contract if you are a minor unless you have been EMANCIPATED ...so they will not give you a card, even if you have a job!. If you are a movie star and independently wealthy you may be able to get a DEBIT card..
