Human incisors are not mean't for tearing through flesh and why do all mammals have digestive systems that allow them to eat meat raw, thus my confusion on why we eat other mammals????
I just saw MEET YOUR MEAT on www.peta.com and I am so sick about the meat industry and what we are promoting by eating sooo much meat. Plus I whipped out my college biology book and our protein intake should be less than 1/3 animal protein. And this unbiased text says that meat is 50% saturated fat and more in some cases, wow...I didn't know this! Thanks Atkins I thought I was losing weight for my next vacation. Plus, environmental issues, economic issues, and human rights issues...What the heck is happening to our world!

I am not preaching I am just sad because we are so obsessed with meat in the U.S. and I want to know if others have seen this investigation on slaughter houses. The atkins thing was a joke, it is clearly a unhealthy way of eating. Also, I loved meat until I saw that organic or not all animals go to the same slaughter houses that kill inhumanely. Finally, We eat to LIVE, we don't LIVE to eat.

Why don't you preach somewhere else and while you're on your way there come up with an argument that actually makes sense instead of your emotional shi te.
You will be back to eating meat soon enough..especially if you tried the Atkins diet. *rolls eyes*
- And this is coming from someone who actually supports veganism (not just vegetarianism!)
edit : well why did you love meat? Because you liked the taste? were brought up on it? hadn't seen the videos? That's probably why most other people in the world like meat.
Food is food, most people don't sit down and think how it got on their plates or consider the animals feelings. A lot of people wouldn't eat meat if they had to kill it themselves or but some would.
If you like the taste and realise that as an individual, you won't be saving many, if any animals by giving up meat then it takes extreme will power, and as you may have noticed not many people have will power these days. There are loads of people who wish they could give up meat but can't. That's why I said you'd probably go back to it after a while.
Also to what extent do we value the lives of living things? Plants are living, vegans still eat them. They are still produced and killed for our consumption. Dust mites are living and we suck them up the hoover every day. Squash things in the grass by accidnet. But dust mites aren't cute.. you can't see plants bleed. Is that why? Hmm.. I don't know.
Also red meat is bad for you. Pretty much everyone knows that. Fish and poulty don't have much fat. Take tuna for example.
If you live in America their whole idea on eating right is warped, and the rest of the west follow what America says. They say milk is healthy for christ sake! Glad you've saw the light anyway, just don't get too carried away and stay away from PETA.

I admit i think that humans eat too much meat for their general health but we were made to eat both meat and vegetables thus we are called omnivores.
omnivore
n 1: a person who eats all kinds of foods 2: an animal that feeds on both animal and vegetable substances
Our bodies do need certain amino acids from animals but ill just say this...the amount of slaughter that occurs because of the amount of meat consumed by the general public is huge. There is no need for it.

PETA is a company that uses graphic images to convince people not to eat meat. It should be an answer of your own whether you want to eat it it or not, not based off of some company.
And human incisors ARE meant for tearing. The molars are meant for chewing and grinding.
We don't eat raw or dead meat because we are not carrion, or that sort of meat eaters. There is more than one category: those who eat only fresh, those who eat mostly (freshly killed) fresh, and those that eat dead (rotting) meat.
We aren't promoting to eat meat. All advertising agencies want you to buy their product...pork, poultry, and meat alike.
Trim, fat free meat is available through a respected butcher and high end supermarkets.
It is good to research your answers, but take everything you read with a grain of salt. (pun intended)

Meat is one of the most complete sources of nutrition you can ever encounter. Being a healthy vegetarian is extremely difficult. You are spoiled because you live in a country where you have access to prepackaged solutions to all of your health needs (any kind of edible plant, dietary supplements).
In some places people cannot survive without the nutrition they get from meat. Sometimes it's the only food item that's readily available (tried eating grass lately?).
From a humanitarian perspective, your hatred for meat causes you to disregard just how important it is.

I don't know about you, but I salivate over road kill *when its fresh*! I can't even walk down the fresh meat aisle without drooling, it's completely involuntary... especially if I see raw, red ground beef or the blood juice that pools under it. SALVATING RIGHT NOW just thinking of this, I'm not kidding you. I've always been prone to low iron, and my doctor said it's my body's response to the deficiency... our bodies tend to crave strongly what we are lacking.

Human being is bologically a vegetarian as our canine teeth are not as well developed as in cats dogs and tigers. We eat meat because if every individual in the world becomes vegetarian for just one week simple potatos and brinjals cost $1000 a kiloram and none can afford food. If we become vegetarian our pet cats and dogs die. We don`t salivate while looking at raw meat as it is not our food. Canines sweat with tongue and paws and almost no sweat comes from skin to control their body temperature . They salivate when they look at raw meat because they eat it raw.

Human incisors are meant for tearing through flesh. As for eating off the road is just plain nasty and exreamly unhealthy. You got too many chemicls on the road and God knows what disesses it might have.
If you're so tired of it, quit obessing about it and go read a book about plants.

I eat meat because it tastes good. I have eaten it all my life, and I intend to keep on eating it. It is an excellent source of good protein and other nutrients,
Chimpanzees eat monkeys when they can catch them. They also eat lizards and other small animals. I've seen them do it on TV. We are omnivores, not herbivores. If we were herbivores we would have a digestive tract similar to cows and horses. Thank goodness, this is not the case. They produce amazing amounts of flatulance!

peta....not so great.....
I'd suggest just doing research on the health aspects, not the animals' health, but human health in consuming those foods...since that's what you're looking at...
ie-cows....fed/administered Bovine Growth Hormone...note...that's *bovine* growth hormone....not....*HGH*
ie-cows milk (on top of ^BGH^) is not the same protein blend (ratio of amino acids) as human milk.
Why? it's made for calves...not humans...!!! lol
(go ahead...feed a calf some human milk!...what? gross?...haven't you had your daily intake of cat milk today? NO!???? why not?! it's tasty!....)
ie-cows milk raises your chances of getting breast cancer or prostate cancer(depending on your sex)....how much?
There have been studies...in my own personal speculation, looked like an exponential curve. (I'd say about 1/2 of a squared exponent) based on a country's production and consumption inside the country vs. other countries (study was done in european countries)..
:-/
other than that, I'm off my high horse...I won't preach animal rights, cuz I figure they aren't really sentient beings, but I don't go hitting every potential roadkill either...(note: projected my car into a ditch last roadtrip to avoid a durned deer in the roadway).

I don't eat meat, but I'm not one of those people who goes around thrusting fliers about vegetarianism into the faces of innocent bystanders. I don't see anything wrong with other people eating meat; I just don't like the gristly feeling of it in my mouth, plus vegetarianism is healthier.
