I've been told that watches in the first year are not good. I was thinking maybe an id bracelet, clothes, etc. He really likes sports but already has jerseys and hats of his favorite teams. Any suggestions?

Keep it simple... I think maybe more important to focus on the relationship than the gift.
I'd really appreciate a quiet evening with my gf if we were just 6mths. You know, nice dinner (hm cooked?) quiet time by the waterside just being happy holding her in my arms and listening to small talk, stuff like dat.

Does he like tech gadgets? If he is, then I suggest you buy him a new mp3 player or cellphone accessories such as bluetooth headset.
if he likes perfumes, I suggest you buy him Hugo Boss, Ralph Lauren, Eternity...they are quite nice perfumes but of course, you choose the one he likes best...maybe bring him along, and ask him to help you find the best perfume for your brother or dad..so you will know what perfume he likes best.
but of course, the best gift that you can give to him is something that you make by yourself...like wristband, bracelet, etc. hope this helps.
