I don't have it but know someone in past yrs, who did have:
it ( i may have mispelled it; sorry if so); it is not to be confused with the word/ailment: tricinosis (mispelled) - that one can get from eating under-cooked Pork. // I think persons get the above type of V.D. more often than other - perhaps more serious types of V.D. ?
any comments, etc. thanks and best wishes to All!

Trichomoniasis is caused by a one-cell parasite called Trichomonas vaginalis. This parasite is very common in both men and women, and many women have trich organisms inside their vagina without knowing it. In fact, about 50 percent of all women infected with trich are asymptomatic. When there are symptoms, you’ll notice itching, irritation, painful intercourse, and thin, foamy vaginal discharge that is yellowish green or even gray in color and has a foul odor. If there is another infection present as well, the discharge can be thicker and whiter.

Trich is diagnosed by swabbing the vaginal discharge and examining it under the microscope. But trich can also cause urinary tract infections. Usually, trich is contracted through vaginal intercourse, but it can be passed on by moist towels, bathing suits, underwear, washcloths, and, yes, toilet seats. Emotional stress can cause “friendly trich” to flare up and cause symptoms.

Metronidazole is a drug used to treat trich; it usually works well as a single-dose therapy, but if it doesn’t, a repeat dose ought to cure trich once and for all. Generally, if you’re taking medication for trich, make sure your partner gets treated as well.

trichomonas is a sexually transmitted disease.

Trichomonas vaginalis is a microscopic parasite found worldwide. Infection with Trichomonas is called trichomoniasis (trick-oh-moe-nye-uh-sis). Trichomoniasis is one of the most common sexually transmitted diseases, mainly affecting sexually active women. In North America, it is estimated that more than 8 million new cases are reported yearly.

How is trichomoniasis spread?
Trichomoniasis is spread through sexual activity. Infection is more common in women who have had multiple sexual partners.

A common misbelief is that infection can be spread by a toilet seat; this isn't likely, since the parasite cannot live long in the environment or on objects.

As for STD [sexually transmitted disease] and VD [venereal disease] having the same meaning, the terminology is interchangeable.

it's a vaginal infection, and easilly cured. You can get it from having sex with an infected person, but I think you can also get it without contact.
