you see, i'm having some difficulty with nosey neighbors. they hide just behind the curtains, and monitor everything....and i mean, EVERYTHING! They have an uncanny way of hearing everything that goes on in our flat, and broadcast it around the the few neighbors that still speak to them. I'm not bent out of shape over it, but it is a nuisance. They are so obnoxious. I have suspicion that they must've figured out how to amplify the sound here, because when I had the whole house to myself, I could never hear all that occurred down here. there are no common vents that i'm aware of. any ideas on A. how to find out if they have any listening devices and B. how to beat them at their own game.

maybe they have hearing aids.
my sister's husband has one that lets him hear things that normal people can't (conversations at a mile away - we tested it in the neighborhood - outside). if this is the case try a blow horn. (they hurt my brother in laws ears - BADLY)
send them cookies - exlax cookies.
WHISPER and play seriously loud music.
i would think that a listening devise would have some metal on it. go thru your house with a magnet to find it. the bigger the magnet , the more damage it will do to the devise.

First, check for hidden vents and maybe you should check if they have placed hidden microphones into your house. First look for the microphones in small places where you think they may be hidden, and if you cant find them, get a video camera and tell everybody you are going somewhere for a couple of days, and set up a hidden camera. This way you could see if perhaps they have snicked into your house when you are gone and placed microphones there.

have you tried confronting them about this? maybe if you do that they will be embaressed enough to stop. Especially if its in front of other people.
If that doesnt work, just be as obnoxious to them as possible. Find out the things that really tick them off and discuss it non stop when theyre listening.
If youre both renting, maybe you could speak to the landlord about the problem.

Well, I suppose you should fight fire with fire. Supposet that they do have microphones and other listening devices, just turn the radio really loud, but only have the sound being static. But make sure that it is instantenously heard for the best effect.

laugh at them, when you see them spying, wave to them or say did you hear it all or can i recap it for you....or walk around and have a fake camera and act like you are taking pictures of them, they might get the message and leave you alone. these people[ i have some in my building] have nothing to do, have no life, and should be pitied. turn the spying right back to them. see what happens.........

Stage a conversation that's too outrageous for a reasonable person to take for real. If they're nutty enough to spread the word, they'll make themselves look ridiculous. If they realize it's a put-on, they'll realize you know that they're listening, and that may be enough to make them stop.
