No, but the government is doing an adequate job of covering up the rapes that occur in and by the military.

Well if the liberal mindset puts women into the front lines , rape will even increase. Yes, rape is a crime of violence and control but thats not all. Its a crime agravated by sexual desire. Im tired of not hearing that addressed. Look at Muslim countries, the women are covered up and the rape is much less.
We always hear a woman should be able to wear whatever she wants without consequences. Its true she can wear what she wants , but she increases her odds of a sexual attack by wearing seductive clothes. Its not just the clothes , its the culture that exploits women and focuses on her sexuality only. Rape will always occur no matter what, but why feed it as we do in our current society.

It is not up to the government to prevent rape. They should prosecute and they have made laws that have it illegal. The rest is up to each of us. Learn self defense, be aware of your surroundings, don;t go out to bars alone, be aware at parties,... in short be smart... rape has nothing to do with the clothes you wear.. it is about power and taking it from the victim. We need to our part and not relhy on the police or the government to protect us.

Note for Don K and whoever else is blaming the woman because of what she was wearing: regardless of how a woman is dressed, that does not give you the right to rape her.

People are responsible for their own actions. If I leave my car unlocked, that might not be smart, but does that give you the right to steal it?

Stop blaming the victim & put the blame where it really belongs, on the attacker.

Have you ever wondered why?

Well first off women or young girls in the USA dress to make a man lust for them.

And then they play games with males. Tease them and take as much money or free drinks as they an get from a man. I would think a lot of men get really pisses and just take payment for being scammed by women.

Young girls need to be taught what to do not to get raped. It starts with wearing clothing not so tight and maybe show a little less skin and if they want to dress like that they need to keep a man with them that they can trust in case they need help. Which will happen.

It is not the governments problem it is how the young girls and women dress and act and tease men.

rapists don't rape for sex, so dressing like a streetwalker does not cause rape. Even little grannies get attacked. Rapists rape for control and violence. I don't know how any government could intervene except I do wish they would castrate. Also they could give free self-defense classes, and free pepper spray.

i feel the gov't is getting way too involved in our lives as it is.

ponder this:
do you want big brother speaking to you from your wardrobe telling you that your outfit is inappropriate?
do you want big brother examining every person that you date, meet, make eye contact with, or simply pass by on the street?
do you want big brother listening to your conversations with someone in a bar or restaurant, registering your heart rates, body language, and proximity from one another?
do you want big brother observing your dates every movement as you invite him into your apartment for a cup of coffee after seeing a movie?
or do you want a society that stresses education, common sense, awareness, maturity, and emotional intelligence? well the gov't isn't going to help us with those things i don't think.
