Many of the over the counter items, including possibly olive oil, will clog your hair folicle.
Best thing you can do is 1) don't smoke. This is the worst thing you can do for your hair. 2) go to a salon and have a professional conditioning treatment done - go once a month for 3 months...then every six months after that. This will help a lot.
Also, if you flat-iron your hair it will close the hair folicles and make your hair slicker. It can be a curling iron but I recommend the flat iron. Just be careful not to use to much heat or heat it up too much. You might also ask a hair stylist to help you with this until you get the hang of it.
A good stylist can work wonders with any haircut or texture. Good luck.

NO MATTER WHAT U PUT IN YOUR HAIR ITS NOT GONNA BE RIGHT UNLESS YOU HAVE THE RIGHT FLAT IRON.HAVE YOU TRIED THAT FLAT IRON (MAXIUS MAXIGLIDE) IT WILL GET THE FRIZZIES OUT FOR SURE I PROMISE YOU.EVEN IF YOU DONT USE OLIVE OIL OR ANYTHING ELSE.IT DOES COST BUT IT WORKS!

i use 'fudge' hair serum. Small bottle costs about 20 bucks but u only need a small amount. (size of 10 cent piece). Works really well!!!

use vo5 defrizz spray its excellent. i used to have frizzy hair days, now i just spritz with the vo5 spray and voilah, pretty, shiny hair. it also makes your hair soft to touch aswell.
