I equate the beleif in God to the easter bunny..

God= easter bunny = santa clause..

and they are all in a little box called "my childhood"

When you grow up. I tend to see that its a bunch of bull. The bible is ridiculous. Its absolutely ridiculous that peopel could ACTUALLY BELEIVE what is in the bible.

This is why I concider most of planet Earth to be INSANE. Therefore, I hope that one day, we will be able to be liberated of this insanity...and come into a period of enlightment, which I can only be forseen as being called "The age of sanity"

I do not believe so.
In fact I believe the song "Imagine" to be a very very evil and communist song, one of the most evil songs ever written would be my sentiment about it. It gives me the creeps. The sentiments you have expressed are exactly in line with that to me.
I am not a religious fanatic either or a bible thumper.

Not really

Because humans are created weak and so the only thing that would help them not be selfish and put the greater good ahead of their own desires is when they beleive in an afterlife

I am muslim but I beleive in all the previous messengers including Jesus and Abraham and Moses and Noah

I also beleive that the only text that is in its original form from God is the Quraan

Christmas and Easter are man made and have nothing to do with the message of worship preached by Jesus,

The first commandment is to worship one God- worshipping one God means putting him above anything and eveythimg and his word shall never be undermined by a human tampering with his rules

What was with this answer about Pagans thinking they lived well or something?

The Pagans were brought under the heel of the Christian empires and persecuted, called devil-worshippers and burned at stakes. They already had their own religions and lifestyles, and they did NOT improve when the Christians showed up. They improved the way Native American tribes improved when Christopher Columbus shook their hands and gave them all influenza, typhoid, diptheria, TB...

The only thing holding it all together is the Hoy Spirit, and once God calls the true church home, the Holy Spirit will be gone with them. The world then will be a peaceful world for a short period of time, then all Hell will break loose! Nothing on earth can stop the wickedness that dwells in the human heart. Only Jesus can do that.

I think it would work very well, but I don't think it's achievable in the forseeable future.

P.S. - I voted down the "anything's possible" comment because that attitude is unfortunately what keeps many people believing in god and other supernatural bunk who otherwise wouldn't. My appologies if it wasn't meant literally.

Having a good life and living well is totally missing the point. I would rather live a torturous life with disease and sickness but know that I'm inheriting Gods Kingdom when I die. This life on earth is only temporary. I'm only interested in my eternal salvation. Having a good life on earth means nothing if you don't have God.

If we allow evolution to run it's sweet course, hopefully we'll one day arrive at the place where we are no longer burdened by Judaic-christian or any other mythologies....

Depends on what your deinition of a good life is. The pagans lived what they believed was a good life before a religious/faithbased group came along to judge their lives as "not lived well". I think that you should check what YOU believe to be a good life, because if you make your life worth living while you are here, then that is what truthfully counts as living well.

I'm with you. If man would focus more on humanity we
could be light years into the future.
Religion - ironic how much death is caused in the name of it.
